I have a very nice Luminor Panerai, I love this watch. I cracked the face and it needs to be repaired. The glass is currently completely removed. Woke up one morning and went to put it on the glass was cracked right across a few days latter I bumped it on something and it fell out.

I need help fixing this watch... I need glass and instructions on how to fix it

If you can assist me in the repair I would like to modify the face to one that is more authentic and change the crown to a wider more authentic one.

Hey, Drew. Davidsen is your source for a replacement sapphire crystal. As far as replacing it, you might need some tools in order to do it yourself. However, a local watchsmith could probably do it for you with no problems. Worst case, you could send it to one of our modders to have it done. The crystal will run you about $80, IIRC. Do you have some good pics of the dial? That would help identify any flaws that there may be on the dial.

A better/more accurate crown is a bit taller order, since Pam's latest crowns have proven to be sub-par and Palpatine appears to have stopped supplying them.

my advice...send it to Vaccum....let him take care of it...while its there....have him service the movement also.
when you have it back....no more problems for the next few years to come ! money well invested before you...repair it to death.

I hate to repeat myself, but:

"A better/more accurate crown is a bit taller order, since Pam's latest crowns have proven to be sub-par and Palpatine appears to have stopped supplying them."

From the only pic you posted I can't really tell how inaccurate either the dial or the crown is. Are you trying to keep the same style of dial? It looks like a base sausage dial, right?

Some better pics and a little more direction as to what you want the end result to be would make it easier.

yes this watch is a very poor replica... it has a movement that is much smaller then the good replicas or the real deal.

The face is a black plastic with the number sprayed on it white paint. I would like to replace the face with a more 3d and glow in the dark

My crown looks like this only a bit thinner and the cuts in it are much finer

Drew,
do yourself a favour, and buy a good replica that will make you happy anytime you look at it.
get at least an asian movement watch with superlume. trust me, its worth it...instead of investing in a low quality watch that does not even get close.
you are looking for a 112H with sandwich dial..

thats just my opinion.

Where do I find a better one and how much is going to cost vs fixing this one that I already payed for.

The hardest part too is getting them into canada i had to send 3 watches back because they where shipped improperly and Canada customs wanted me to pay duty on them to the effect of $900 because they dont care that they are replicas and they say replicas are illegal to have. they go in there little black book find the matching picture and then charge you %13 tax and 6% duty on the RETAIL value of the authentic one.

In all honesty I wouldn't spend the money trying to do anything to this one. Look at the dealers here on the forum and $200-$250 would get you something 10x better. The dealers here shouldn't have any problem getting it to you in Canada. You can also keep an eye on whats listed in the Members Sales section and at times you will find something for sale that's already in Canada which would do away with your concerns about customs.

What do I do with this one ? its it good for any parts ?

case possibly - but to be honest with an asian auto mvmnt in it, i dont really know. maybe the straps, but that's bout it.

180 dollars is a lot but i dont know the exchange rate for canadian money,

for an asian auto mvmnt pannie, be bout 100 dollars to buy US dollars.

u can get a 150 dollar asian manual wind that looks more gen, or 200-250 for a even better one.

dealers here would have that. or buying a used one off of a trusted member.

to fix your problem though would require extensive modding that passes the worth of your watch.

a premodded watch can run u ~ 350 - that's for a pam 111h with superluminova, swiss mvmnt with swan neck cannon pin fix etc.

to do that to your current watch plus the xstal plus trying to figure out the crown plus a new mvnt to go near gen and then luming it? :? luming is 100 by itself.., mvmnt? nother 100-150... i think :( then trying to find a better crown? wow.

someone correct me if i'm wrong. H_U would know more, he collects pannie reps like i collect debt.

The advice from Crick and H-U could not be better advice. This watch needs to be chalked up to a learning experience.

Oh, dear Lord! Those pics are awful. I'm sorry, but I have to agree that watch isn't worth trying to upgrade. I'm not sure that case would even have the proper grooves inside for the movement holders of a 6497 movement.

DSN sapphire with AR = $85
New dial = $35
Relume = ~$100
Asian 6497 = $50-75
DSN crown = $30 (this would also need a DSN crown tube, so figure a couple of bucks for the part and then more to have someone remove the old crown tube and install the new.)
New hands (silver hands are NOT accurate) = $30

You'd be better off just buying a new watch. Sorry, but that's the way it is. Read some of the other horror stories on this site, a $180 lesson learned is pretty cheap compared to some! :(
