Anyone own one of the Luminor GMT models with the ETA 2836? Comments on fit/finish and accuracy?

I read through Davidsen's site and he hasn't been able to AR coat the crystal and I didn't know if anyone had success with this?

Thanks everyone!

I had a 2892 for a little bit and kept up on them at the time, and back then (6 months ago?) the biggest complaint of the 2836 version was the gmt hand slipped on most of them.

Yes, own a Pam63 with the Eta2836, well the adjustable GMT Hand works just fine, and keeps good time.

Well as for accuracy, I would say its quite accurate accept the few obvious difference like the date issue, canon pin, lume and no AR which is almost the defaulted fault for all rep pam. The elongated GMT hand would be the obvious diff for this model. Wrong caseback numbers as its suppose to be a limited edition of 1500 for year 2000.

To my limited knowledge and research, I choose the Pam63 over Pam29 because it looks too similar to an explorerII that I also had. Guess thats the most accurate Luminor GMT rep you can find.

I'm curious since Sir Vacuum can now tweak the ETA 2836 movement on the Lum GMT. I just don't know if the dial/hands etc.. look nice?

:p Ok. The ETA2836 can't be tweaked further... It already has the GMT function installed as modification.

Think about it...... if you have to ask about it how is 98% of the people in the world that hasn't even heard of a Pam much less know the intricate differences of the different models ever going to know?

Unless you're hanging out with gen watch wis's this model is fine as is and will get many ohhs and ahhs... if its noticed at all. With that said, I'm sending my 2892 for a new cyclops and superlume...... haven' decided if I care to mod it much more than that. I could care less about things that will never be noticed by 99.99% of people such as the size of the crown.

I love mine.

Happy T, that watch looks nice. You just need the more "correct" SS crown mod

and the magnification is weak on this rep. If you want a really good workhorse, go for ETA2893 version. That will set you back at least 450USD.

I want the movement to be as accurate as possible and I want the assembly of the watch carefully done by hand. Check this out:

http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12976

And then I'd like the watch waterproof tested.

With any luck the hands won't fall off!! And the correct lume would be nice!!

Well, I got a couple of chronometer certified gen watches that are not as accurate as my rep Pam63 for time keeping. My two cents advice would be if there isnt any problem why go inviting it.

Takashi:

Which watch is the 2893?? Is that a vintage model?

sUpemezU:

Points well taken!! I just think that a lot of movements/watches are slapped together, not lubed properly and vary greatly with +/- timekeeping. But I agree with you otherwise.

ETA2893 is just different movement with native GMT capabilities. So the rep PAM063 is powered by this movement instead of ETA2836. Ask supermanx about it :p

He is one of the member who has experienced with the so called ETA2893 version. As for AR coating, it can be done. ask vaccum or rbj. You need to remove the crystal from the watch case.

I have both PAM 63 and 29 with 2893 and the GMT hand can be set buy jumping 1 hr at the time, not sweep continuous move. I don't have experience with ETA2836. Could you tell if the 2836 GMT hand jump or sweep on setting?
