Hi and good morning from the Netherlands!

I've just joined this great forum, as I was allready a member of the Dutch RHN forum, and now after a month, hopelessly infected with the rep virus.

I've just ordered a Pam 111 V3 Noob from a TD and received the QC/timegraph pics.
The values all seemed good to excellent except the amplitude.
According to the TD the PAM has an Asian 6497 Manual/Handwind movement, at 21600bph.

I've read that if the amplitude is to high or too low, it's better to ask for another watch as it could indicate a problem on the movement.

The time grapher values for the PAM are:

Rate: -1s/d

Amp: 244

B.E.: 0.2 ms

Beat: 21600Aut

Lift: 52.0

Per: 4s

Amplitude - the amount of rotation in the swing of the balance wheel:nerd:

great : 270-310

acceptable : 250-270

So 244 is slightly below acceptable..

I've been told that on handwinds it's is difficult to achieve 250.

I'm curious about the views and experiences of you knowleable folks down here. Is 244 acceptable and normal on a handwind or is it risky and a deal breaker?

Cheers!

This really depends on how far the watch had been wound prior to the timegrapher results. 244 is low if fully wound as the amplitude will drop between 20-40'degrees in pd position and even more so as the mainspring winds down. Best thing to do is ask for timegrapher shot on fully wound.

this is a myth that hand winds don't oscillate over 240 degrees, in fact amplitude is more important in a hand wind movement

Amplitude: 244 is actually not bad for a A6497 movement.
But the timegrapher setting is wrong. The lift angle for a 6497 is 44 degrees, not 52.
That makes a wrong measurement result

Well spotted, the lift angle is incorrect for this movement and would have a bearing on the amplitude readout. Perhaps a combination of setting the lift angle setting correctly and full winding?, would give a better result.

244 is fine as Chris has stated but the TD has the timegrapher set to the wrong lift angle (this is not a reading, it's a setting) and therefore the reading will not be correct.
ado213 you won't get much more than that out of a 6497 mate, it's probably a bit lower in reality.

if everyone's happy with 244 lets go for that as the norm.
