Love

Franck muller- classic design with contemporary twist. Just wish secret and totally crazy would be repped.

Audemars piguet- used to hate this until I bought my survivor and now the montauk highway hopefully a couple more in the near future. Their construction is classic and I use this as a daily watch.

Roger dubuis- bold designs and large cases that still look classy.

Bell and Ross- large case and rugged and looks different from many watches.

Ulysses nardin- great looking watches like the moonphase and other enameled pieces.

Hate

Rolex- I have a couple including a gen I inherited but they just don't do anything for me.

Hublot- again they are pretty popular but I can't see why they are so popular. It looks like a copy of AP with a screw loose.

Our tastes pretty much match. I like the idea of Pam's, but my 111m never got wrist time so I sold it.

I don't know what it is about Rolex that I love. People say they aren't original, but I can't really agree since they started the sub craze. Looking at my gen sub-c now, there's nothing ground-breaking about the looks but I can't bring myself to take it off. I love Rolex!

Rolex look great but you just feel like you're wearing a fake and everyone knows. I've been all over Europe, Asia and The US. Every tourist trap street corner has a little guy selling fake Rolex's. From NYC to S. Korea to Amsterdam to Naples to Beijing. I've been offered fake Rolexes in all these places. That's what turned me off them

I just Googled them, their watches look great. I quit smoking after I got pneumonia. Anyone have an opinion on Bremont. They're British. I like the look of some of them. Any Bremont reps out there?

I didn't see any copies in Asia when I was there 6 - 8 years ago. I'm also ' just sayin'. It's the flavor of the month watch, but there sure will be a lot of second hand fakes for sale shortly:lol:

A lot of second hand fakes for sale shortly?
what do you base that on?
You are the expert? :asshat:

Everyone that I know on this and other forums love their Panerai.
There are a bunch of very nice PAMs out there(probably not in your cheap ass $80 budget though).:biglaugh::biglaugh::biglaugh:

I could be wrong but I'm detecting some animosity here

I'm basing it on the fact that these watches are fashion items. Every other post is someone wearing either a Rolex or a Pam ( go check the eye candy thread).
Check the used reps sales ads............ tons of Rolexes for sale.
As soon as people stop being sheep and get tired of their Pams and move on to something else you'll see a glut of used fake Pams for sale. Hope you could follow that............. or maybe everyone will still love their Pams in a year, two ......... three and no-one will ever sell any of them, ever .............:picard:

Quite simple my dear Watson, lots out there = lots will be sold at some near time in the future. Kind of like cars. Hence my Vauxhall Astra analogy.

The "sell off" of which you speak happens with all new reps that come out. It's just a matter of time.

This same principle applies to most watches, rep or gen.

They are a fashion item, after all.

If there was no turnover the manufacturers would run out of money and disappear.

Exactly, thank-you. Pretty obvious really

I agree wholeheartedly, but there are exceptions.

Take the Breitling SOH for example (v2). If the dealers were to re-introduce this model the response would be overwhelming.

If they do, will they make as much money as they are making now on the PAMs and other high-end reps?

I still remember (but am too lazy to find) Robert's post addressing the V-this and V-that matter from his perspective. He suggested that it is untrustworthy. How much of the price of those reps selling for over $300 is based on the buzz and how much is based on the craftsmanship?

If you take Robert's word for it, the version numbers as stated by the rep sellers can be based only on what they are told as opposed to what they are sold by the "factories." Let's face it, if they are drop shippers or if they don't know exactly what features distinguish one version from another, thay are innocently buying into the version buzz.

Just thinking out loud, here. We now return to our regularly scheduled thread. :)

PLease tell me that's a tongue in cheek comment  The only thing that was any good I ever saw him in was Copland. I wouldn't hold him or Arnie up as cool. You have to be joking, right?!?!
