Lost or delayed? Tendered to delivery service provider

After researching and reading various posts I decided to purchase my first rep from a TD. Long story short, I received tracking (DHL ecommerce to the US) and everything seemed to be going smoothly. On 1/17/22 my tracking updated to "tendered to delivery service provider" which I believe means it was handed off to the USPS. There have been no update to DHL's tracking after this update and the USPS tracking number shows "Departed Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item". I contacted DHL and they claim to have handed the package off to USPS. My question is... is the package lost/stolen? Should I try and contact USPS which I hear is a nightmare... or when do I get the TD involved?

Thank you

I'm certain that you'll get your watch later this week or next week for sure. DO NOT contact USPS, contact your TD in two weeks if you're watch hasn't arrived.

Thank you for your input. I really appreciate it. I have never seen a USPS package sit without a tracking update for more than 10 days before but then again I have never received a DHL>USPS package either.

I had an USPS rep watch package sit for more than 10 days and it arrived unexpectantly with no tracking update when I checked,

I just went through a DHL/USPS shipment recently, there was a lag in communications between the two.

gusgus , have you looked up your tracking number on USPS’s site? Usually if I have something inbound to Canada from international, it shows up on Canada Post’s tracking system once it has entered the country. May be similar in those United States of yours.

Yes, the tracking number tracks on the USPS site but it hasn't updated from "awaiting item from shipping partner" which is DHL. USPS tracking is certainly not good by any means but usually it will either update or the package just shows up by now. I think in this case based on the previous responses the "hand off" from DHL to USPS can make it more muddied.

This happens because the USPS creates a label in system immediately but they won’t get the watch for three weeks (current lag). So just be patient and what will wind up happening is you suddenly get updates on your tracker that show it was received in for processing, our for delivery, etc.

So it will be about 21 days to get to you… you’ll get updates tracking around day 17 and then it moves quite fast.

I’d stay optimistic. Seems like it’s through the risky portion of the journey. Advice from other members is to have faith and be patient and I’ll bet they’re right.

What watch did you buy anyway? Post pics when it shows up.

Thank you for your input. This type of shipping is new to me. I will continue to wait and hopefully it will update within the next week or 2. Just to be clear... you are saying that there is currently a 3 week delay from when DHL "claims" they handed off the package to USPS? The tracking thus far is as follows:

USPS:
  • 1/14 - Arrived at Shipping Partner Facility
  • 1/14 - Departed Shipping Partner Facility, USPS Awaiting Item
DHL:
  • 1/14 - Received at DHL Distribution Center
  • 1/14 - Processed
  • 1/14 - Departure Origin DHL Facility
  • 1/17 - Tendered to Delivery Service Provider

Correct! It will take more like 15-17 days to pop back up on radar. That’s when USPS ACTUALLY gets it.. then they’ll typically take a few more days.

They used to track from shipping origin in China but it has been like this for a several months now. Just be patient you’ll see it pop up after a couple weeks

USPS Tracking:
1) your package has left the facility
2) we have no fucking idea
3) package delivered
