Hi everyone,

I dont know if this is the right to post this thread but I need your help. I bought this rolex submariner ceramic bezel with an asian clone I believe its the 2836 asian copy a few months ago and yesterday by accident i dropped it; and when I picked it up I notice a rattle sound inside the watch, I inmediately proceeded to open it open. Well to my surprise the rotor was loose and I mean totally loose! my first thought was maybe its the screw got loose and I just need to screw it back in place but that was not the case the screw was still there screwed all the way in. Its just the rotor that came off, I wish I have a picture to show you but just imagine the rotor with the little hole in the center. At this point I just aligned the hole to the center where the screw head its at and applied a little preasure to put it back together. This worked for a while but know the rotor is loose again. What do you suggest ? can I used crazy glue? will this mess up the movement? plasea any ideas are going to be more than welcome!

thanks
in advance!

Don't glue anything!

Maybe provide us with pics first. Underside of the rotor would be good, I suppose.

I think the ball-bearing assembly is pressed into the rotor so you'll most likely have to remove the screw, retrieve bearing, and press it back into the rotor. This is by memory so if I am wrong I'm sure I'll be corrected...

Funny. This exact thing happened to me just the other day.
I banged too hard on the door of my hung over collegue's hotel room to wake him up for a meeting. Five minutes later I hear the rattling of the loose rotor and when I open the case back the rotor falls out from the case but the screw is still in place. This is my GMT IIC with asian ETA. I now have a manual watch instead of an automatic. ;)

Although I've never had this happen to me I'm sure it will eventually! I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to put a slight wipe of JB-Weld at the interface between the two parts before pressing back together?

Thanks cybee, that's exactly what's going on with my watch! I'm at work still but as soon as I get back home I will try to fix it and yes seems that the rotor is pressure fitted to that gear.. Wondering what can make the rotor not to fall off again besides by just pressuring it back together :(

You may want to press it in flush again and hopefully that will fix it. If it comes off again you could try what jmb suggests as long as it doesnt prevent the rotor from turning, or just source another rotor and replace it.

Ok guys, I did it! at least I think so! :) I pressed it flush as suggested and that did the trick so far no problems and even the loud noise it had before is not there anymore! Thanks again to each of you!

Glad to hear you got it straightened out for now. If it drops off again, I'd say just leave it out and run it as a manual-wind watch, as long as it keeps time well still.

OMG, this sucks. Your 10 year old Chinese Master Watchmaker must have goofed with the movement :)

Time to swap in a new movement, it looks like a repair would be more expensive than a new movement..

After a more close look I am quite amazed: The plate came off AND the screw? Talk about a ticking timebomb. Who sold you the watch?

does the watch still run? that looks like all the keyless section has jumped off. if it runs still the use it as a manual wind until you get a fresh movement or someone to repair that one? i know those movements are not that cheap, could be worth a trip to a WS with the bag of bits and the watch and see what he can do? or just ask for a service, they usually strip movements for that anyway.

worth a go mate GL :)

I know it sucks big time! I guess I will try to get a new movement and do the swap but I have no idea where to get one or even how much they cost, any ideas? Otherwise I will just sell it as parts.

It looks like the winding bridge assembly came off. I'm wondering if the rotor was put on correctly and seated properly with the winding bridge.

Come to think of it probably the screws that hold the winding bridge on must have been loose and then once the rotor started spinning around a few times Kablooey!

a service would be cheaper than a replacement movement. find a watch smith that will service reps, take him or send him the watch and the bits (all of them) in a ziplok bag and ask them to service it and put the thing back together. the movement is a good movement for these guys to work on. dont lose hope or faith.

Does it still run ?? if so, it is probably fixable, I have a dead movement, the parts you need can be transferred on there, PM me and we can get it working again

Hi rdh, unfortunately the watch doesnt run so I'm thinking on taking it to a local watchsmith and find out how much it would cost to get repaired, in any case if it turns to be to expensive , I will sell it for parts. By the way thanks everyone for your responses and advise.

Are you familiar with any place to bring it, possibly? I'll add to the consensus, the currently installed movement you have needs to be serviced, not replaced. Where did this watch come from? I've never seen an entire plate come off.
