Oke, a lot are going to disagree with me here but here it goes.
When I carried it was in war zones, it's impossible to carry in OZ unless you are either a gunsmith in your shop or can prove your life is in acute danger. I carried a Bren10, a LES P-18 pr a mini Uzi. When i could not carry a visible bulge I used a Beretta Jetfire loaded with mercury tipped stinger.
However, for carry in a "civilised" country my choice would be a revolver much like you already carry. Why? because yoiu are not going to be dealing with a mob but one or maybe two attackers and as Jeff Copper himself once explained to me during a most informative chat I once had with the man (one hell of an interesting evening) most if not all confrontations in this situation are over in less than four rounds. If it isn't you are either badly trained or going to be dead regardless.
On that basis there is no better weapon than a wheel gun. Why? Because it points better (faster) and it can't jam at the worst possible moment. Jeff BTW agrees privately with this statement. If you feel the need for more rounds (you won't need them trust me) a speed loader fills a wheel gun as fast or faster than a mag swap on an auto.
In the field I have had to pull a handgun a dozen times in four plus years TTOG (total time on ground) in some of the world's greatest shitholes. Out of those I have pulled the trigger on five occasions (you don't forget, trust me). In none of those did I expend more than five rounds. I have copped a 9mm in the vest and believe me either a 38special or 38super to the chest is enough to stop anyone but a giant on crack and two to the chest and one to the head will stop even him.
Discuss.
