the noobmariner looks much better out of box

the mbw looks like shit honestly, it needs LOTS of mods to begin to be a good sub rep. People who say otherwise must be blind lol.

MBW Mods
----------------
Pearl
Insert
Dial
Date Wheel
Bracelet
Crown and Tube (rep crown is much better then the noob crown, but gen is best)
Crown Gaurds
Case Back

Noob Mods
-----------------
Pearl
Insert
Crown and Tube <- not really needed (rep crown is slightly oversized thou, but gen is best)
Crown Gaurds

That's my rough thoughts....anyone with both of these wanna chime in?

MBW for vintage, yes.. for new style 16610 go with the Noobmariner all the way

I have both....the noobmariner has a better bracelet and datewheel but other than that, the MBW is much better.

The MBW has a MUCH better feel and the movement is definitely closer to accurate. Also, the new gen subs have the same dial as the new MBWs(swiss made between 3 slashes, font, etc....) The only thing that I would recommend changing on the MBW is the insert/pearl and a new bracelet.

How are the CG's on the MBW versus the Noob?

the CG;s on the noob are more accurate. I have both and the noob is a better replica than the MBW (16610 only). The noobmariner is a newer watch.. 3 yrs ago the MBW was the best.. now the noob is the best (out of the box). But lets remember this only applies to the 16610 as the vintage MBW's are the best becasue they accept gen parts..

All a noob needs is a new bezel insert and pearl and a little inner crown guard work. The only upside to the MBW is the correct 2mm deep rehaut compared to the Noobs 1.8mm ... but you are paying $200+ more for the MBW. Movements are the same. The newest thing now is to take a MBW case, install a Noob movement and dial, noob bracelet and gen crown and tube and you have a near perfect franken-sub ;) I also have one of these customs too :)

Unfortunately shallow rehaut is IMO most visible flaw on sub replicas. You can spot this several meters away.
And also date mag. is insufficient because of the rehaut is not deep enought, which again screams fake to me.

My noob bracelet from Joshua does not fit on my MBW 16610- does anybody know if there is a reason why perhaps??....anyways, I wore my MBW to a local Torneau and nobody could tell. I also have a watchmaterial pearl/insert installed. The dial of the MBW 16610 is VERY close, if not perfect, to the newer 16610 dials.

the noob bracelet needs to be modded to fit as the lug holes are drilled too far in on the MBW.

L-Dizzle might post the pic if u are nice lol j/k

**btw the MBW makes a GREAT franken watch. I was just staring OUT OF BOX, for the noobs who want to buy a "good sub rep" its not.

I got a Nymphomariner/Noobmariner just recently. Nice to have a franken sub so
Now all i need are:
1. new bezel insert and pearl
2. MBW case
3. gen crown and tube

Where do i get those and how much do i expect to pay for them
thank you in advance.

I've held both in my hands, and it's no contest for the MBW.

Rehaut depth is huge, so is the shape of the rehaut. The noob failes miserably on both accounts. MBW is far more easily modded.

Hmm ... im getting bummed here ... let me tell u why :)

i have an eta nob from paul and im starting to think that the modern mbw 16610 is just not worth the extra bucks on top ... plus the dial is a huge letdown on mbw and needs to be swaped with noob one ... also the bracelet and some oter things ... so will result in 700 usd cca to get al done parts and work included ... i payed for my eta noob 100 euro if u see my point ... plus considering modding my vitage mbws (1680 already done 1665 next ... ) before i woud go for modern mbw ...

L-Dizzle ... what u think a gen crown tube swap and insert / pearl swap with a bit of crown shawin on the Noob is a worth it mood in ure opinion ...

I've had two MBW 16610 and one Noobmariner. For the price, the noob is pretty good, but if you handle both in your hands and close your eyes, MBW feels much more heavy and strong. That's my first perception. I don't know if they are made of the same SS quality but I would say no.

Then the rehaut issue comes into consideration. And that's a huge flaw, because even for non WIS when you look to the watch, something run around your mind telling you: "mmmh... looks like a rep, but don't know why" ;) Rehaut is definitely one of the reasons to go for a MBW or a TW best.

Of course, if you don't care, in both cases, MBW and Noob, 95% of people would not see the flaws, but at least in my case, I see them and I always try to have the "best sub" (not buying the gen) :D so I go for mods... and today , these mods must put together the best of MBW and Noob worlds, plus adding some gen parts to complete the miracle... In my case:

MBW case and mov
Noob dial, date overlay and bracelet
Gen tube and crown

Still needs: CG shape and gen Insert/Pearl

My ETA Noob from River does not have such a broad flat top on the number 4 as in the above pic by vmena.

We've had discussions here before on this issue, but I still believe I've seen some gens with bezels where the 40 has a broad flat top 4 and others with much less pronounced flat tops.

Is this another case where R0lex themselves were not consistent?

If you can live with the shallower rehaut of your noob, then go ahead and mod it. I modded my noob just a little bit and its great and it was cheap. The MBW is more correct becuase of the deep rehaut but needs MORE work than the noob does to make it good. Depends how much you want to invest in this project i guess. I'm happy with my modded noob and it gets more wrist time than my modded MBW16610...
