Have you filled up the fountain pens yet? How do they work?

I've had knock-off fountains before and I was disappointed with the performance. They didn't write as smooth as the genuines; a cheap fountain pen from Staples would have performed better. Moreover, they leaked ink in warm weather. I would hope they've improved because they look great. Congrats!

Just dot them yesterday so I haven't done anything with the fountains. The rolerballs write great. I love fine points. The fillers even have the proper Dupont markings. The fountain s come standard with reservoirs. You should alway take those out and use refills to prevent leaking.

I used refills in mine, the leakage was occurring from the nib. Just be careful before you go carrying them in your pocket. Be sure to keep us posted on how they work out for you.

I will. Having owned real fountains before they are certainly an acquired skill. Both in writing and handling. I tore some paper up let me tell you. I have found that the leaking issues usually wasn't really leaking. The trick is to make sure they are always capped in the upright position. If they are capped in the down position, the shake can cause. drops of ink to spill into the cap which then runs out of the pen. When using a reservoir, the key is to get it as full as posible which evecuates the air from the cylinder. Excess air can allow the ink to escape. I however, could never quite get the ink well thing down so I decided to purchase manufactured cylinders. It's the same principle on a ballpoint. The tops of the refillls in your typical storebought pens are sealed with wax. The ink is transferred to the paper as a result of the air transfer that occurs as the ball rolls. If you were to beak one of them in half, the ink would start to run out of the point. Amother pont to note is that fountain pens should periodically be evacuated and cleaned. Especially if you don't use them regularly. After a period, the it will gum up and this messes up the balance of the ink thus producing a leak.
