I am looking for my next rep purchase, but I would like to get some opinions on what is actually considered a "super" or 1:1 rep..

I know the following are somewhat considered "super", but what else?

- Wm9/Bk Sub
- Wm9 Patek Phillip Nautilus
- Ap Roo
- Tag Carrera Racing
- DSN Pam Fiddy
- DSN Pam 127
- Pam Ferrari Ultimate
- Pam 109?

Thanks

Apart from Ferrari range I don't think there is 1 Panerai that doesn't need exstensive Modding to be close

raymond weil Nabucco
Graham divers and Chrono Fighters
Chuamet
Breitling super ocean range
Bell Ross 02
Rolex GMT11
Breitling black steel V2
Ferrari the best of all never heard of anyone modding one!
These are also sensibly priced

The so called super reps with premium prices that still have many flaws

Hublot not one exists out of the box spot on expensive ones have completely wrong looking movement

Panerai 104/164/088 super reps hardly any improvenment for the $200 premium waste of money

Rolex V3 too many flaws to warrant spending extra $100-$120 to get swiss ETA just as well buy Clone dial cut out for date looks home made

Just about any rep that is premium price that is said to be "Made from Gen sample side by side" always the most basic flaws

Ok for all but the 1-1 brigade
Iwc Pilot
Panerai 111/177
Omega Planet Ocean
Rolex Noob mariner
Rolex daytona
Rolex explorer 11
Rolex Milguass
Patek Aquanaut not worth paying premium for MBW as date on the newer ETA watches have a better date placement
Patek nautalus same as above
Ebel
Omega Moonie
Patek elipce
Cartier xl santos chrono
Iwc FA Jones
Panerai 252 Northpole
but there are dozens in this catagory that 99% of people enjoy and the 1% or less of the 1-1 people get frustrated at

I would also add the Omega speedmaster range from last year: the day-date and the ones with subdials at 6-9-12 (especially the retro version). Very, very accurate reps.

@T4D

Good post, it's nice to hear an opinion from the other side of the fence.....so does this mean that your reps AREN'T made "same strukture as genuine"? :D

So far after collecting so many reps. The one that does not need modding and reasonably priced is PAM Fer008. If size is not the problem, this would have been my favourite.

@whoosh70: I think the same structure as genuine is a very vague term. Most of the flaws are cosmetic issue. E.g. text on the dial is wrong font, wrong datewheel font, poor lume, etc. They are minor but can be annoying if you know about these flaws. Hence the quest of modding watches.

Thanks for the candid insight T4D!!! it would take years of study, and in reality be impossible, for most of us to learn all of this on our own. just shows it's important to take most glowing sales pitches 'with a grain of salt.'

That FA jones is a cool watch, but I saw it at the AD and it is huge. Kinda wish it was about the size of a datejust.

I am very interested in learning from this comment.

Would you please share the better way to replicate than use of a genuine sample?

Or are you suggesting it probably just isn't true and is a marketing tool only?

Thanks for elaborating.

Does anyone disagree with T4D on any points?

Is it accurate to say that the ones mentioned below, are really the only "super reps" available?

raymond weil Nabucco
Graham divers and Chrono Fighters
Chuamet
Breitling super ocean range
Bell Ross 02
Rolex GMT11
Breitling black steel V2
Ferrari the best of all never heard of anyone modding one!

What about ROO rubberclad, etc...?

There are no 1:1 reps. But there are plenty of 'Super' ones that expand way beyond this list. However if you are truly part of the 1:1 crowd you will will always be frustrated as T said.

Are there really no 1:1 reps yet? No one rep that I can hold in one hand, a gen in the other, and not see any difference?

I'd add the Ebel Discovery to the first list. Appart from the pushers being about .5mm too long they are spot on in all regards. Even th bracelet is good.
The little Rolex ExplorerI is also damn close and cheap! Some of the De Witts are very good as well, the Academia being the best of them. Lets not forget the Cartier Santos either.

As I said no. Never have been, never will be. As far as differences go, 99% of them are loupe flaws anyway. I mean think about it for a second. Everything picture you see here is a macro shot blown up to the size of a human head. I have been on the forums for years. In that time I have yet to see one instance where anyone has been verifiably called out on a decent rep where they didn't cause it to happen. There are reasons that it could which I won't cover here because it is in the Noobguide. But needless to say these things are not the main factors associated with pulling one off. If they care, which they don't...well read my sig. In any case if they do think it's a rep it would at best be an unverifiable suspicion at which point they move on (usually) or they will ask (almost never). Personally I've never been asked about my watch much less if it was a rep. But we don't buy them with the intention of misrepresenting ourselves or deceving people. So even if someone did there'd be no reason to lie about it. That's why I love them. Total win win.
