1969 5513 Non-Serif Matte Dial

The Non Serif and Serif Dials immediately followed the Meters First Dials. The Non Serif Dials were introduced first around late 1969 to early 1970 consistent with cases stamped with serial numbers in the very early 2.0 million range.

Beautiful 1675 no DATE
What case is this? I want to have this one built but am having trouble getting the right case for a 6460 gmt to fit and still be accurate in proportion to a 1675 case.

This isn't a no date. It has a Swiss Eta 2836-2 Modified (supposedly). I got it from Mary on RWG a couple years ago. I did the mods, it had the plastic gasket holdiing the bezel assembly on which I replaced with a Clark assembly.

It's kinda like the 2 line 6538, 5513, etc, before Rolex started getting "fancy" do the the extra verbage on the dial

This watch was the reason I started modding. I absolutely crushed it against a concrete wall right after I got it. Smashed the plexi and gashed the insert and bezel all up. Trying to fix it I saw some tutorials and started on this as my first. In retrospect I would have aged the dial less, but it turned out pretty good.

More to the point I have heard from my dealer that JKF is working on a new 1675 rep. This is the factory that makes the cartel sub reps. He thinks the construction will be much closer to gen than the current 1675s which have that cursed plastic gasket holding the bezel to the crystal. He doesn't know when it will be available but I am waiting for that one to build a blueberry.

Lol not the best way to get into modding, but it had to be done right.
Thanks for the 1675 tip. I will hit my dealer up on it. With it being a China holiday right now nothing is going to get done this week or even next

This is great! What are the details?

Sent from the RWI mobile app

Thanks, fortuitous disaster. One of the members saw my thread on the Silix Oysterdate Precision and decided they would get one and change the plexi. Turned out there was a spot of lume on the dial and they messed up the dial trying to remove it. Also broke the stem right at the crown. Bad day that we've all had. They talked to me and ended up just giving me the remains of the watch because they were disgusted with it. I soaked the crown in alum to dissolve the remains of the stem and ordered up an Explorer dial and Tiger hands. Already had the plexi laying around. So this is put together from all those pieces. 34mm gilt Explorer.

Not as nice as Bart's, this is the poor man's version. Not shabby for $50 in parts and 2-3 hours of play/work.

Well done. Still a nice watch.
