Actually my gen case set is from 1996 when they were already produced without lug holes (but still without SEL - it uses 557B end links). I think they started removing lug holes for oyster models in 1994.

It depends on the watch reference from Rolex when they removed lug holes.
DD had never lug holes for example.
My 1996 Sub has also lug holes.
