KW PAM 382 pictorial
So, finally I got my hands on a KW 382.
The discussion about this release has been quite extensive and all the pros and cons have already been discussed, moreover recently Set2374 posted a nice and complete review of this model here, so instead of writing another review that would add nothing to what has been said already, I decide to shot a pictorial with the intent to capture (to my best) the essence and the real look of this rep as you will receive it from your dealer (I did not clean the watch).
Also thanks NCChef for his very informative and impartial comparison between ZF and KW, you can read it here
The first impression I had when I opened the package was of a tall and heavy watch, noticeably taller than my fiddy and even more than my 382.
That's due to the tall and almost plain bezel and the thick caseback.
On the wrist it has a massive presence, but yet it remains wearable on my 6.75" wrist
I admit I was surprised by the case shape, I expeced the mid case to be exactly the same of the 127. I wonder if the differences noticed by NCchef in his comparison are due to the fact that ZF used a fiddy mid case as a sample. Of course this is only my speculation and curiosity, ZF made an honest rep with pros and cons exactly as KW, no flames please
The bronze color with the patina grown has a unique look, it made me think of a Clive Cussler adventure book, ancient relics and oceanic submersions... Pretty fascinating.
The build quality of this piece is good, everything is solid and well built, as you would expect from a KW watch. The caseback is tight, the crown has a good feel, the bezel is not wobbly at all. A couple of things to mention are small details like the CG not being perfectly firm evene after screwing it, or a little nick on the case.
Anyway, to be honest I was maybe expecting something more regarding the finishing of the case, in particular the superb brushing I saw on their 346 is in no way present in this rep, especially on the bezel which has a great impact on the look of the watch.
The pearl is well replicated, its color varies from off white under direct sunlight to a darker greenish color in the shade, due to the strong lume applied. Pearl ring is a bit too thick.
Inscriptions on the dial should have probably been glossier, while hands and markers have a beautiful polished rosegold finsh.
I already wrote too much , on to the (many) pics:
And nuclear lume shot:
For the record, I mounted an Orloff vacchetta in giungla color for the pics, a soft brownish strap with a hint of green to match the dial.
Hope you enjoyed the pics and find this post useful
