Hi Everyone,

I have just found my dad old bulova GMT watch, but I am confused on the movement inside, on the dial it indicated swiss so I was kinda expecting a ETA 2893 inside..however.... I found something else! Thus could I trouble anyone to assist on this movement ID, Thanks!

Did my Dad get conned of a Swiss movement?

Note: GMT hand is able to move independently

I am not a watchsmith so maybe I shouldn't comment on this but I don't think that is a genuine Bulova movement.

That is actually a chinese DG movement

Here’s a picture of DG-2813 from Dixmont Guangzhou (DG), the logo is circled in red.

Thanks everyone for helping out! So would it be the DG3408 movement (since the GMT can move accordingly?) Or where can I get a replacement brand new DG3408 movement?

My Dad got it at a local watchshop in singapore , back in the 90s. Bulova Brand in Singapore now is almost non-existent!

Thanks for informing, based on the link and pictures above. Looks like the same movement!

Yeah its weird i found 3 different refrences to that bulova GMT and they all had the same movement , makes one wonder if Bulova was dabbling in Chinese movements, or was there just a flood of counterfeit Bulovas

It's not 'easy' if you've never done it before, but it's do-able if you have a few tools, some patience and the ability to work with your hands - there'll be tutorials on movement swaps on here and on Youtube - have a look at some ...

This guy put in a new DG3804B movement, and I'm pretty sure it was with only basic tools and knowledge : gotsung .

Ask him how easy/hard he found it.

it definitely wasn't "easy" but with some patients you can do it. you need the basic tools like screw drivers, hand remover, presser, tweezers and etc. honestly if you are only going to do it once, don't even bother. take it to a watch smith. I did it so I can learn and swap different watches in the future. the tools alone cost me like 80.

I also forgot to mention the keyless is very easy to mess up. messed it up once and had to fix that thing. took a lot of swearing and patience.

The swearing helps a LOT I find - those little pieces need to know who's boss . . .
