Dear OP, I have dealt a few times with customs. All I can tell you is this:

Its important, because the can have packages laying around 30 days (no joke) and they will pass after that, just when work piles up. It simply happens sometimes.
If you DONT have a letter, simply wait.
First will come a letter from customs, if item dont pass.
If they wanna have receipt for payment proof, dont do it and dont accept the shipping. it will go back to sender. (exception: you WANT to pay import taxes on a gen watch
).
Otherwhise it comes a letter from CUSTOMS, that the watch is seized and they see its a fake. So then you will maybe, depending on the watch brand, get a second letter from the lawyer of the brand themselfes. Had this issue 2 times with Rolex, and can tell you at least here the lawyer does not come after you with some foggy money he wants.
So I would just wait.
