K2121 clone project aborted.

Shanghai movement factory ceased all clone process related to K2121 earlier this month. According to its manager, cloning K2121 is not difficult as it is a quite simple movement, but the factory cannot solve its quality control problems and thus aborted the whole clone process.

The currently available best-manufactured k2121 movement goes to the one that ZF uses, which is a miyota 9015 structure cloned and modified by Shanghai movement factory. As clone K2121 won't come out, it is your best choice. He also said about the 7121 movement (16202) being way too expensive to acquire and to clone, so 7121 will not come out in near future. If you want a 16202 with clone movement inside, you may need to wait another 3-4 years.

I asked some of my wechat dealers earlier this year. They said something similar. I rather have ZF fix the pizza hands.

I would settle for a 16202 with a Miyota 9015 movement without the 15202 style date change mechanism and with improved hand base.

I see these pieced together watches on Telegraph etc from these "dealers". I can't fathom sending my hard earned money to one of these "people" for something that I have no way of verifying. I mean, even in this community we have deals go sideways. What protection do you have when you send some random nugget online $8k ? Sounds crazy to me.

This is our game. Try to use TDs, trusted watchmakers and modders, eBay, C24, Catawiki etc. and pay their markup. Or risk your money with random sellers. I did both, lost some money but fortunately I could afford my loss and now I can enjoy my beautiful rep and franken watches. I'm not rich according to the living standard of my country.

I've built quite a few Frankens through the years. I have used reliable and trustworthy sources to source parts etc. Gives you peace of mind of what you have.

Don't worry. The whole project was aborted months ago. I did not log in to this forum for a while so I forgot to tell you this.
K2121 clone project was totally aborted because the first and second batch of test models had a too high rate of failure.
The same applied to 3126 clone.
