Sounds advice my man!! First I've heard of fattening the existing gold with 18k.
Like you said, I plan on only wearing it as a dress up piece. So I'd imagine the 18k plating to last a while. I originally ordered two watches from intime but decided to go with the Daytona first just to get a feel of the shipment time and procedures. Ive search high and low on the m2m sales but it seems like no one with a two tone anything will ship to CONUS.
Welp, the search continues.
Patience is key. We are all tempted to hit the "add to cart." Your Daytona is one of the more expensive reps (slightly over $700 at intime?) and adding the $900 in gold might shock some members here because normally you would do things like replace the crystal, hands, maybe the dial or the bezel... but you are literally "going for the gold" lol. I would recommend really scoping out the bracelet feel and deciding if you want it reshaped slightly to smooth out edges before you have it re-plated. And if you are doing the gold, I would recommend having the movement serviced at the same time (disassembled, cleaned, properly oiled, retested for amplitude, new gaskets, pressure tested, etc and reassembled). Might at well be in it for $2k and do it right.
