Just how pointless is the DSSD?

it's just to show how good the oyster case, together with the new ring lock system can be. just like using 904L steel. overkill but it's them telling us it's their know-how.

Because it's an engineering feat. Because they can do it. Because it challenges our limits.

Thanks rud19, tt88, and ShiroTenshi. These answers all make sense to me.

I think half my problem is that I haven't seen a DSSD in the flesh, real or gen, and every time I go to order one I stop, because I have the feeling that I'll end up with something that looks like a pregnant sub.

although it's cool, but it is what you say it is....'pregnant sub'
would really hope they continue with the normal SD instead of launching the Deepsea.

anyway, maybe rolex does think it's now dealing in commodities, making a big chunk of metal instead of keeping it nice and simple.

I heard (from reliable source) that Rolex is preparing a kind of "new normal deepsea". That's quite exciting !

Otherwise, I own a watch certified water resistant 200 ATM (= 2.000 meters deep). I trained scuba diving few years ago, but I felt really bad under water, and I gave up. So, my watch will never deep more than 2 meters. But I LOVE the idea of having a 200 ATM watch !

Sometimes, I don't try to explain or to analyse my pleasure. I just enjoy it !

I know, why don't you get a life?

Maybe Rolex should consider contacting you the next time they decide to create a new model. What I don't get is why you give a shit either way. Get over yourself, you're irritating.

What I don't get is why you feel the need to respond to a post that you're plainly not interested in.

I couldn't possibly consider talking to Rolex when I've got much better things to do, like reading witty and incisive posts like yours.

I've seen both GENs quite close, the Sub is really an astonishing timepiece but I really think the DSSD has it's own niche. It wasn't bad, not at all.

Imo it is a cool watch, the one I like best in the ceramic age, but it's not mandatory owning one, so it's all good.

Wore the DSSD at the store yesterday. Wasn't that impressed.
Didn't like the "original gas escape valve" lettering. Distracting.

When the shit hits the fan and there's zombies running around eating brains....it's the watch I'll be wearing.
Lol it really is a tank of a watch.
