Couldn't you get a ss case, take it to a trusted jeweler and have him use real gold? That's what i would contemplate only in either rose or white gold.

Pointless, this is the process the replicas already use. That is still just gold plating. The reps have real gold too, but it's just plated over the SS so eventually it tarnishes or can be deeply scratched.

Never buy a gold plated rep! I got my dad into this hobby, he's 63 and wont entertain SS.....it has to be gold!

I've got him three RG Rolex to date. The gold rubs after time and you're left with a crock of shit!

AHX, I wasn't really referring to just plating but the actual 10k and above process used in jewelry which I forget the details. A friend of mine he is a jeweler nothing fancy just a stall in a swapmeet type gave a lecture on the properties and all that and he said you could of course the price is higher because more actual gold gets used up in the process. He does custom jobs all the time, I'll go ask him if I see him during the week. The radiomir is probably the only model I'd ever consider wearing in some shade of gold, not even a dj or rolex stirs that emotion out of me.

I deal at times with a father and son plating company down here. They are out in the country and do great work at low prices, and they can plate pretty much anything.
He said gold is no problem. But he has to buy (and charge me for) a minimum 1oz. And he has to use at least half in one batch. He estimates that 1oz would plate 3-4 watches with bracelets.
At the cost of gold, this gets quite pricey for rep watches.

Since we are talking about the pastoral profession, if you are going to be one, should you really be buying a rep? It's our hobby and we all love them but straightly speaking, they are not legal ... well at least in the eyes of the gen watch companies.

Wouldn't it be interesting if you meet the president of Panarai one day and the following takes place?

PAM: What a beautiful gold Radiomir you are wearing Reverend!
Rev: Oh thank you! I got it from Hont and it's the latest v52!
