JF 15400,the "new" batch.

The dial of JF whether V1 or V2 is nowhere close to the Gen.

I've placed them side by side. Too bad I just didn't have my phone that time to take actual pictures.

The TF owners (I'm not one of them) prefer the TF dial because it's closest you can get to the gen dial.

Go to an AD or an AP boutique and see for yourself.

Gen on left. JF on Right.

Firstly, you've compared the v1 against the gen. The v1 tap was worse than the v2. The v2 isn't perfect but it's better than the v1. The tap size is closer on the TF but it is the only thing on the dial that us anywhere near the gen - the finish on the dial, the paint of the lettering, the colour and the markers on the dial alone scream rep. It's of.the many reasons we have been asking for a better 15400 for so long.

Secondly you've just shown two pictures of a dial colour that responds drastically to different lighting conditions. A JF blue owner posted a picture that looks much closer to the gen colour earlier, does it mean it is? No, because the two aren't side by side. So the pictures are pointless. Anyway the color isn't quite right on the JF but like you said yourself so few people have seen it in the wild and memorised its hue in each and every lighting condition so the colour is kinda a moot point, it's the finish that is far more important as I've repeatedly said throughout the thread.

Three, I stated quite clearly the tap on the JF was the only thing that would sway you towards a TF. Everything else says JF. It really is like comparing a narika $100 sub and a TC...don't even get me started on the bezel screws [emoji23]

I gotta make these things clear because noobs come on here and see people going on about the TF like it's in the same league - I know you're not one of them - but plenty have, and they think the watches are in the same league. They really aren't.

Hi guys so I'm gonna show my dumbness here.

I bought a new ap 15400 from Andrew a few weeks back and this was before I checked the forums.

I bought this one.....

http://www.trustytime01.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=241_246&products_id=10979

So now I've got it and I haven't opened it or unpacked etc I'm now thinking I want the best approach 15400 rep I can get closest to the gen. That seems to be the v2 from jf..

So a couple of questions...I was gonna sell the watch I've bought on here as a m2m. But what factory made this rep? I have no clue! Any ideas? As I'm sure this will help me in my listing...

Also any guidance on price? It's got a Swiss eta movement !?!

Thank you in advance!

post pics of the watch here before you list it, sometimes Andrew will send a different factory to you ,since he doesn't state the "Factory" on his website... then we can see for sure !

Exactly. He said he never opened the box. You never know what watch is hiding inside that box.

My friend can easily recreate gen bazel screws for AP 15400. He's a machinist.
When I get my JF 15400 I'll talk with him more about that.

Post pictures when you get it done!

Waiting for mine to arrive and might add them as well.

Will do when he makes them. I didn't order v2 yet but I will soon.
Whe thing is, refined AP screws are so easy to make. You can take rep screw find a guy who makes stuff like that and ask him to make them for you but more refined with sharp edges and very flat head.

Aren't the real screws made of white gold? So shouldn't they just look different because of the material?

Yes gen screws are white gold.
White gold is whiter than stainless steel.
But the trick with stainless steel is to polish top of the screw to absolutely mirror finish.

I'm wondering if it would make more sense to refine JF screws instead of making totally new screws. I guess it depends on the edges and if there is enough material.

To me JF screws don't look flat enough compared to gen.

It's been a while since my last post, I'm by no means an expert but the RO is my grail specifically the 15202, I have tried the 15400 in several AP boutiques it is extremely rare and while you can get the black dial or white dial at AD for 11-12k usd the blue dial best I have seen is around 16k that is a 5k premium over the other dials, well my point is there are several shades of blue even among gens the most noticeable is from the H series over to the I series, son don't be to obsessed over the color, I own a JF V1, and the build quality is amazing it's been discussed here extensively, I don't own a V2 but from the photos the improvements I see are thickness V1 was 10.5mm V2 is 10.00mm and the date wheel, lighter shade of blue, and thinner font, this is very noticeable and one of the biggest tells in the V1, the tapisserie is way off but really on the wrist is not bad it's actually in between the 15202 and the 15400, I see no difference in the V2 you can see a video over in puretime, the RG they just released is V2 looks, exactly like the V1, anyways you can't go wrong with either.

Anyway this is just my opinion hope it helps.

Who the f**k in the world is going to tell white gold apart from SS from the naked eye for screws that are 3mm in diameter. LOL - you guys know what white gold is made of right? Its a alloy mix of yellow gold and usually covered with Rhodium to make it shinier. If you can tell the difference between White gold and Polished SS with your naked eye you are superman especially for things which are like 3mm.

Even platinum you cant tell with your naked eye unless you are a seasoned jeweler. Everyone thinks platinum is bling bling but actually PT950 is quite dull after it being worn. I'm wearing a solid PT950 bracelet right now and let me tell you its not as shiny as polished SS.

JF 15400,the "new" batch.

Idk white gold has a very different hue in person. Platinum too. Both look nothing like steel.

Little screws perhaps would be hard to tell but bracelets/cases most definitely from afar one can tell

To be honest ppl who I find say that haven't handled platinum/White gold a lot. Look here is a picture of my AP 15400 polished and brushed SS vs my SOLID Platinum PT950 bracelet. Let me tell you 1000000% the platinum is alot more dull but its very heavy. My family is actually from a jewelry background and we use to own several shops in asia.

To the naked eye the platinum looks cheaper - i like it like this as no one will expect how much this bracelet is actually worth. I had to get this custom made actually as not many ppl would wear PT950 solid bracelets. Platinum is actually very hard to work with - gold is much much easier so making anything in platinum the labour is very expensive.
