Is it just a matter of the forged carbon being glossy or something else? I mean, it seems to me that a lot of gen GPs seem to age very badly.
As an example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audemars-Pi...916?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item234ebafdf4

It says "Pre-Owned with light wear from normal use". It looks a different material to me.
My Jf 44 FC and diver FC cases seem to be pretty hard and I cannot imagine them getting like that.

The gen FC bezel is very soft and a known issue. AP will allow owners to upgrade to a ceramic bezel they made for the GP as a replacement piece.

Well, problem seems to be affecting (a lot less) the case too judging from photos around.
It looks as a different softer material and to be true I would not like it.

lol@ light use.... whats the point of having a 30 grand watch which you cant use it on a everyday basis?

thats has to be one of the biggest fails

i would take the glossy fc over the gen bezel anyday if its going to look like that over "light" usage....

If you don't mind it looking fake as ****, then sure, no problem with the glossy finish, consider it a fantasy model.

True... but only time will tell if ours (The JF version) will end up damaged similar to that. Lets not forget there haven't been that many AP reps with Carbon bezels most carbon models have our trusty 'ceramic' bezel which is decent at taking all the scratches/ bashing haha ... So who knows with frequent wear and bashing if it would be any different?? After all it's claimed the FC is made with similar process to Gen ...

^ive yet to spot anyone with a gen, neither do i really care about what others think...
but personally, a 30 grand watch should not have flaws as bad as that... it looks like crap when its worned out...
that is an epic fail for a watch designer. a 800usd rep with a bezel that doesnt look like a gen 30k rep, i could swallow that. but a 30 grand gen with such a flaw, thats bs

Almost all the gens that i have seen had damages on the fc bezel. Even the so called very good condition bound to have at least one part of the fc bezel chipped/abrased

Maybe, apart from the glossy finish, we should mod the bezel hammering it so it would look gen and all would be right then.

Sure, you're right. But if you look close at those ebay watches it seems that it is not only the bezel. It is surely a brittle material.
Now, my impression is that my 44 FC and diver FC forged carbon is not fragile nor soft.
I can be 1000 times wrong of course and they will chip soon... I will not hit it to test.

Exactly my point, those models all have a ceramic bezel and its the bezel that takes the bashing mostly . Now with the GP, it's different as the bezel is FC NOT ceramic so we'll see how long and how much bashing it can hold or if it's it as hard as we think as we are yet to see that ..... That's all I'm saying, let's wait and see :waiting:

Surely the other way round? I think it looks better in person than in the pics.. but that's just me...

This is taken with the rg i just received i just think the pix can capture the fc pattern better than see it it in your own eyes i think the glossy of the bezel kinda lower the overall quality of the watch

Nothing wrong the glossyness to be honest it's only bcoz of comments you keep reading, so it subliminally makes you say/think so . Almost all other FC AP's has a slightly glossy finish like the FC44mm and FC diver , does that make it affect overall quality/look of the watch, NO. The only reason people keep making these comments is probably because the Gen is not as glossy. In person, I think it is a beautiful piece and a lot of members who have seen it will agree ...

Agreed..
Mine is dull in normal conditions and nice and "glossy" in the brighter sunlight..
A quick search of the web will show even the gen's are/appear to be glossy in certain conditions... (lighting)
Lets not forget.. this is an $800 rep not a $60K gen.... there will be issues..

...glossy or not, I can def live with the flaws. Just try to get a watch with full carbon, automatic chrono etc. at that price in EU or Conus.

If anyone questions the glossiness, just tell them to go home and get their shinebox [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
