It amazes me how many people seem in awe of this watch. Don't get me wrong. I bought one of the first BP and had the movement serviced. A good looking watch that can fit into many categories. I still am a Diver guy and love the AP Diver. I had a custom black sharkskin strap with silver stitching made by Donerix. It fits my wrist better and I think it genuinely looks better on my wrist. Still this is a nice watch but there really are a lot of great reps out there, especially outside the world of Audemars-Piguet. If I was going to drop 15 large, it wouldn't be on this or the diver. I did like handling these but so many options out there. I guess that's why my box is almost always full. It has 4-2 watch winders and 12 slots on the bottom for extras. I usually wear one or three per month unless a special occasion pops up.

I've been feeling Tudor love as of late. Thoughts change but I still love all my little automatics and even the better Quartz watches too. However buying many additional straps and sending things of for AR/Lume will eat through your bank account as quick as buying gens/wines or cigars.

What shall we have? An '82 Margaux! Is it any good? Good....?, It will make you believe in God!

There you are. Each rep seems to cost now the price of a good Napa Cab or Bordeaux first growth.

Pretty spot on for good years. But they don't get really good for 10-20 years. Napa cabs are a different story depending on the winemaker but I would say really good reps give more immediate pleasure. Which is why they are so fun and endearing.

Modding, Frankenstein with new straps do get into that first growth kind of price pretty quickly. Like in wines your palate swings around full circle. Same with reps. I never thought I would get back into Rolex ever but I do like many of them again. Never bad to have a great classic watch 10-20 years down the road. People will be wearing stickers of the time by then. I'm so never going to wear a smart watch. I look at watches as one accessory men can really enjoy. Suits, jackets, pants, ties are wardrobes. Watches are accessorize no and that favorite watch fir the time is precious. I feel very uncomfortable without a watch. Weird because the smart phone, the car all have the time but I don't wear rings. Not even a wedding ring. Long story...

Watches and me go way back.

"What should we start with?"
"An '82 Margaux."
"Is it good?"
"Good? It will make you believe in God!"

I have alot of cases of Bordeaux. I never tasted a perfect one. There are always rough edges in them, even after proper aging. Same with reps: always rough edges. At this point, I am like you: getting back into Rolex, no iWatch for me, etc. Best recent wines I tasted are from Walla Walla, and then a few out of Napa. For whites, always Burgundy: nothing really compares.

All of these beautiful JF 15400s make me want to sing the theme song of this thread:

Received mine today. Thanks mech! :)

Actually I am very happy with it. The "nipple" dial is not as strong as exceptect. looks good in person.
Anyone already swam with it or sees a problem swimming with it? :)

Did I miss something???? If this is correct, who has the best 15400?

I am seeing the JF 15400 version (first picture) and noticed the buckle is quite different from the diamond 15400 versions ( second picture). Is there any specific reason why it is different ?

I am curious if the GEN crystal is the same size as the 15400 JF version ? And lastly, are the case back serial number engraving going to be different for all ? I have seen the 15400 JF pictures posted and all looked different. But I just want to confirm.

U.K.
Yes I think the serial numbers are all different.
The JF clasp is not quite as gen and the bottom picture is more correct but it doesn't bother me really

JF clasp is an earlier gen type so is same construction as gen but not the type fitted to current gen 15400's. The TF clasp (and V6 - same factory) is more accurate to the current 15400.

Nice hub6152. All rep 15400 crystals (JF, BP, V6, TF, etc.) are not the same as the gen 15400 crystal.

^^ I think slaughterer62 is talking about the size of the crystal. Rep compared to gen incase someone wants to swap. At least that's what I have understood.

Still no news on the RG version of the JF, I'm starting to loose faith the V6 never released it and JF might be the same, it's a shame I was really looking forward to it!

Wow, Hub that silver dial that you got is the best JF I have seen so far the date font is much better and you have the sanded rotor to boot!

Yes the silver has the brushed rotor. Can't for the life of me think why on earth they suddenly started polishing the rotors???
