Dear all,

I was recently just about to pull the trigger on either a V1 or V2 Top Gun - but decided to check out the real deal first - realized that the piece that I was eyeing was actually a DOUBLE CHRONO on a 46 MM body, which the REP isnt.

Anyone knows if the 46mm is available as a REP?

Cheers

Sorry but that review is for the normal top gun(3789) and he is talking about the doppel chronograph (3786 or 3799). they are all top guns but we are talking about different versions here.

The top gun is 44mm, the doppelchronograph 3786 is 44mm and the 3799 is 46mm.

As far as i know there is not a good 3799 version out there. I think there is only one at 46mm and its powered by a faux chronograph (movement ASIAN MJ 2813). The dial has wrong numbers... and it has only one chrono hands instead of 2 in the gen.

Forget about the doppel chronograph option, my believe is that it wont be available ever.. there is just not enough demand for it.. and never seen a chinese movement with this option....but a better version powered with an a7750 would be nice...

Since this movement is really small compared to an 7750, you will need a movement ring to hold the a7750 in place in the big 46mm case.

Actually i got a case for this version but never went any further. The case itself looks quite nice, although its a PVD.

I was thinking of having an Eta 7750 installed on it and get maybe gen dial and hands, but the biggest problem will be the design of the custom movement gasket.

So for now we are stuck with this.. my question would be if we can use a movement gasket from another 46mm watch to fit this one... anyone?

I have seen the gen doppel 7750 movement, diameter wise is the same as normal 7750 only differ in thickness. Potential pitfall if you want to put this movement on rep 46mm Top Gun: different crown tube position and the movement may not fit.

Hi Taka, thats always something to have in mind.

But that means then that even the gen must have some sort of movement holder to keep the movement in place. Thats also good news and will mean that the subdial spacing is the same as ETA 7750, making this a possible build. I think the case is pretty big and somehow it should be possible to align the movement to have a right crown tube position. What do you think?

It's not so much because of the movement holder. What we need is genuine case.

Several concern of building the 46mm Top Gun:
1. The case.
2. The movement (you need a split second chronograph).
3. Genuine hand set
4. The dial.

If we can iron out the 4 things up there, we are good to go.

true... but its very challenging to have all the 4 parameter perfectly done

I think this is the best we can get now...

1. Although not perfect we can have a 46mm top gun case (PVD)
2. we can forget about it, at least for the time-being.. An alternatives is the ETA 7750 (leaving a faux split second chronograph pusher)
3. maybe possible (checking prices)
4. maybe possible (checking prices)

the question is always wheter is worth to pay premium for a gen dial and hands to fit a PVD case with faux doppel chronograph. (Normal chronograph will be functional though).

For me, I would not. I would spend that money one genuine dial and hands for the normal Top Gun, non doppelchrono.
