IWC Top Gun question

Hello RWI friends

I just received a complaint from a fellow member claiming he received v2 instead of v3

Here his qc pics:

I told him it´s v3, than he came back with a link to prove me I´m wrong:

I don´t understand that french review but let´s make a little history on this model:

In the beginning there was v1 from the Hublot Maker (428usd) and everybody was happy with it.

Than v2 came in (388usd) from another factory than v1 was reduced to
328usd and people were even more happy.

The v3 is a reedition of the v1 (after some time out of stock) by the same Hublot Maker, but superlumed

Now v1 long time sold out and not available anymore, again, v3 is an upgraded reedition, and the v2 is out of stock, probably for good.

Please let me know who has it and to confirm this pic is a v3 from the H factory and not a v2

It's not my intention to embarasse any TD. :facepalm:

I just want to show the differences between 2 version of Top Gun that i think are V2 an V3 due to time I have purchased it.

I don't know all history about this watch and which factory produced it.

For me, the watch on your pics is the same that i bought for a V2 in september / october 2012 (nose of the airplane, red colour, Police, strap ...). Maybe mine is an upgraded V1.

Um.. just wondering. If this is V3, it would be superlumed. If the buyer has experience with V2, then he would know if there is a difference in lume intensity and duration?

I'm not sure if this is significant difference but the rear of the buckle on the V3 should have the gen engraving and the buckle on the V2 does not...

@Santana : I saw that you received rescently a Top Gun V3 from Toro (http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/iwc-top-gun-133627).

If you compare with the review, your watch match with V3 or V2 ?
Could you post some pics ?

There is only ONE version available currently. No short or long airplane option available. Only from the H maker. The watches a year ago are not the same as today. I would like to see a pic of a recent v3 not from last year september...

For me it is which i call V2.
I'm still investigate to Know how many factory build this watch. Perhaps the difference comes for this reason.
I asked some TD where they source this watch, waiting for answers.

Hi guys,

So i have answers from different TD.
At this time, 2 Factorys build this watch : H-Factory and V6-Factory.
For the second, i never hear something about it, so excuse me if it isn't the good name.

I will revise my review with the correct name to be clear.

At least this story has helped to clarify the situation :thumbsup:

As you can see we find the explanation for these differences.
I would just like to underline that with toro exchanges have always been very cordial.
I think it showed in this case that he was sincere and honest.
It may be necessary thereafter be more specific about the source of the watch for buyers to know what they are buying ( the comparison shows differences).
But I repeat again, toro has never tried to hide anything and is really a Trusted Dealer.

Not sure what people have a problem with but the version from Toro is as close to gen as you can get. The gens I have seen have the elongated nose. The difference is in the tail which is shorter than the rear wings on the gen but the same length on the rep.
Regardless its almost impossible to spot without a side by side comparison. A friend of mine had the gen and could not tell any difference with the rep by looking at mine. The biggest tells are actually the noisy rotter, the white engraving and lack of markings on back of buckle.

It's a good summary :

But as you can see in my review, the other version(V6-Factory) is good too. Good color, better engraving color and markings on the buckkle.
To be really closer to Gen you have to buy the 2 version and take the best of each :thumbsup:
