Did we ever try to drum up 10 people for a group Tourbillon order? I'd probably be in, assuming those on the forum who actually know watches and movements (not I) feel it's a good movement and a good deal. I like the style Perpetual is putting into their watches.

What do you mean? (I'm still a noob ;) ) I like the design.
The ebay site has a little bit more info on the watch ( (http://cgi.ebay.com/Regulator-Watch-Sap ... 360wt_1165) )

I like the fact for that price of 120$ it has got:
42 Hours Power Reserve
The intensive checking & screening processes
Scratch Proof Sapphire Crystal / Anti-Glare Coating
3 Day SpeedPost Worldwide Delivery Free delivery
2 Year Worldwide Warranty

Just received a very kind confirmation mail:

I received two replies. I also told him I would post pictures on forums :)
I have chosen the SeaGull ST1711

Dear ***

I am so glad to have received your email asking the differences between my Regulators. I have always thought I could get away from it, no one would notice these minor differences. You are the 1st customer has spotted this ever

The pix on my HOME & COLLECTION pages are both Regulator R-01A, the 1st generation which used the HZ 2431 (similar to my bigdates' HZ 2240 caliber). I had changed the movement cailber to SeaGull (TianJin) ST1711 which is a better movement in every way compared to HZ 2431 since last year, but the hands' locations are a bit different since they are from 2 different makers.

To shoot the Regulator's video, the current Regulator with ST1711 was shot for its authenticity especially the movement side was revealed in the video.

I should have shot some new pix of the new Regulator for the webpages, laziness & most of all, the pix on the HOME page had been replicated on many attempts but unsuccessful, the almost sunset natural light never came handy again during the shootings. I like the original R-01A's shot so much and couldn't replacing it. I am sorry for the confusions for you and perhapls some future smart customers. The bad news is it will stay that way until one day I can convince myself this good pix should go.

I am very impressed of your attention on the details of my watches, I hope my Regulator (with more spaces' one) will live up to your expectation. Appearing on some watch forums will be exciting for me & my workshop for sure.

It is like a quiz show, you managed to tell the differences, therefore, you will receive an extra complimented dark brown calfskin strap in your parcel.

Have a good weekend.

Regards
Alex

Dear ****

I still have some HZ 2431 in stock, anything is possible, but I am sure you will stick to my current SeaGull ST1711 with more spaces towards the minute's rim instead of HZ 2431's more spaces around the centre, ST1711 out-performs HZ 2431 in every way, both performance & finishing.

Regards
Alex

*Another update in my email. Really like the fact he does that:

The difference between the old and new version :
-Different hands locations.
-Mineral Glass & sapphire Crystal.
-Screw-in crown & normal crown (classic watch shouldn't be equipped with screw-in which
is for sport watches.
-The R-01A's Hour hand's wheel stud head is very visible while R-01's Hour hand is like a cap to conceal the wheel stud head.
-No decoration's HZ 2431 & the fully decorated ST1711.

Hi people, I was a member back in 2006/07 but lapsed.... :)

I too have decided it is time to get a tourbillon and in googling I found Perpetual Watch but nobody seems to have heard from them apart from you three (?) guys. Has anybody else received a watch from them? Are they worth the premium they seem to be charging? I may be interested in a group purchase.

hi all

its nice that this thread is still ticking over! my perpetual is still going strong and gets lots of comments... im happy with it.

i think that this is a well run small company and the owner alex is trying his hardest to come up with a competitive range of watches, as evident by his lengthy and thorough replies to any questions.

unfortunately we never had enough interest in a group buy.

my watch seller in devon has as far as i know sold his limited stock of perpetuals.

I am thinking of getting this watch also  Really like the look.

My watch unfortunatly is in customs possession so it's going to take a little longer till I receive the watch. But I am not bothered. :)

Got this email:
According to the mail tracking link, your Regulator was already in the Netherlands but in customs' possession. I had got 2 Dutch orders before, one had a smooth delivery and the other one was for a jeweller, it took him quite a while struggling with the customs department and he had to pay some sales or import tax to get his Chronograph C-03 in the end. Please keep me updated on this and I can send an invoice for your Regulator if it is required.

I have emailed him this topic, got a reply with:
I have to clarify one thing in regarding of that gentleman simonsays who bought my Retrogarde RS-01 from a Devon's jeweller. I have a small workshop which is a private property in GuangZhou where my 2 technicians work there, and I work in my apartment in Kowloon, HK. How could somebody came-across a so-called Chinese factory in the first place ? I had never shipped more than 5 Retrogrades on one order to any clients before except for my main market in Japan. I recall an UK jeweller named Mark who bought around 5 watches from me over a year ago, 2 Retrogardes & 2 BigDates and that was the only orders that he had ever placed.

I am glad simonsays bought his RS-01 at a very good price, obviously Mark had trouble selling Chinese watches, simonsays' RS-01 :

-Mineral glass front & back, now is sapphire crystal front
-Original strap was replaced with an unknown blue strap
-No deployant buckle nor extra silicone rubber band
-Registered airmail shipping instead of SpeedPost
-1 year warranty instead of 2-year now

In addition, to whom it may concern, no more group purchase is possible now since our prices already changed from retail into wholesale starting in Dec 2008.

i could have been mistaken about the number of watches...they were in a big display case all in with lots of other watches, but im sure there were more than 5?

he WAS called mark and he did say he found them whilst on a trip in china?

ah well... whatever, i think my watch is geat value and alex seems to be doing his best to sell his watches.

enjoy it when it comes.

@ Simonsays
Do you have an address for the AD you got your watch from?

I maybe in Devon over Easter

and stiggie I don't think it was such a good idea to send the watch maker this thread, (if thats what you did), he sounds a bit pissed off......

Just ordered the Retrograde RS-01

stiggie, that's a good looking watch...cheer up!

will you give us a review when you get it? it sounds like we must pay wholesale now and can't get them at si's price, but they still look like they are worth it; especially with the two year warranty and service plan. si sure likes his.

thanks,

dhd

It looks nice, too bad rs-01 always appears out of stock. On second thought, maybe it's my desire for an auto tourby at a low price that makes me continue coming back to this thread. I'm wondering if one day there will actually be enough interest for a group buy.

Kudos to simonsays for taking the look, picking up something different, and posting it.
