What story did you make up to get these infos? I imagine for privacy policy the avoid giving infos about customers.

I didn’t make up any story, I didn’t ask for any private information about the buyer or seller. So there was no privacy issue.

I asked if they had a stainless steel Audemars Piguet for sale or had recently sold one, the lady put me through to her supervisor who broke the bad news that it had been sold yesterday and I had missed out! So I asked for some info on the watch and described it in detail to determine if it’s the same watch, white/silver ish dial, octagonal shape case with display caseback etc, she confirmed it was the same watch, and I was told someone pawned it over 6 months ago. They keep all jewellery for at least 6 months before selling as a lot of pawn shops do, that they had an independent specialist look at it and confirmed it was a replica. She was very sure it was a replica because they compared it to pictures of the genuine online and noted the hands looked different under closer inspection!

Believe me I was pretty shocked to be honest and still don’t know what to make of this story. IF op did in fact buy a gen 15400 for $90 it’s not luck on his part as some have suggested, it’s more bad luck on someone else’s part, there’s a 99.9% chance the watch is stolen. It would be fortunate if the rightful owner could be reunited with their watch

Hmmmm yes, I agree if it is stolen a re-union would be good.

You know a little more now than I did. In regards to who pawned it, that they would take so little for it and not be distraught at its non genuine examination, has to mean they were not the original purchaser...

I just watched a K serial unboxing and it only had clear plastic over it.

This watch had a small bit of clear plastic still stuck on the inside of the band on one side and a couple of blue plastic bits still left inside the clasp, had been worn definately as the bit of clear plastic was dirty where it had lifted abit. Whoever unwrapped it did a rough job and put it on their wrist straight away lol.

I had no idea where they got it, they are not really a pawn shop at all, more of a large clothing store that takes donations, I sort of thought maybe someone who'd passed away and their house got cleared out and donated and someone came across it. But now we know it was pawned thats quite interesting. The lady told me she had had more than one rep of these in the store and they had all sold for the same price. This is counter to the pawn story almost.... I kind of assumed maybe she didn't look at this one close enough and thought it was another of the common reps, as I thought it was a donation find. But man it just makes more questions.

And of the hand luminescence being dull and them saying hands weren't right, wtf goes on there? Either there's some super reps out there who have copied the movement and keeping it quiet for now, and they are coming in locally, or it's real and their "expert" was wrong. I've looked at macro shots of the gen hands online and can't spot the difference tho... You can spot JF hands with the naked eye by the rivet and base size. But this is next level.

I'm still confused. Never got to the city watch shop today guys to compare and update, was crappy cold and raining, sort of thought fuck it. But now I'm not sure if it's real or fake again *slaps forehead*

What an adventure, jeez.

Of the dial, the printing is good, the date is sausage print can't tell on other printing I don't have magnification, but the automatic lettering seems to not centred vertically as shown here

As you can see, Swiss made and the minute markers roll over the tapestry beautifully

Sorry I used the word pawned purely for the world wide members, they said they received it or something along those lines, not sure if the term op shop is used outside of Australia

I’ve never even heard of savers to be honest, but if they are anything like vinnies or salvo’s then you can’t sell them stuff, only donate.

I won’t speculate any more.

Janda DO NOT get your yugoslav guy oil the rotor. if the strap is gen the extra links can be sold on chrono24 and you get 3x-8x times your money back, then fix those troll hands. :rollingonthefloor: funny how quickly this thread went off topic for a while

can you share pics for the two links and parts removed?

Garuda why not to oil? I was just concerned about maintenance really.

Here are the links, one is scratched bad, other is perfect. Thing is magnet for scratches but you only see them in certain light.

Janda tough to determine if those links are gen. i have no info on the tell tale signs.

with the oiling, let a pro work on the watch. your yugoslav guy will just use mineral clockoil and that may spread into the movement and screw the timing.
have someone like spongebob or legend oil the rotor bearings with mobius or high grade oil that does not run into the movement

its a gen so treat it like a gen. the mall type watch fixers will fvck those screw heads on the rear with their $1 store screwdrivers

If this turns out to be true you I’m honestly happy for you.
However, the amount of knowledge you acquired in one night (you even got the rep slang right do you) leaves me skeptical, I can’t help it.
if it’s made up; get a life.

One thing that's puzzled me about this story is, Australian law regarding counterfeit goods is the same as the US and here in the UK, in not illegal to own counterfeit goods but it is illegal to sell them, so I'm surprised that a large multinational company (over 300 stores in OZ, US and Canada) would break the law by openly selling what they believe to be a fake watch.

id like to think that this story is true and the OP has genuinely had such a good bit of luck, I wish we all could be so lucky, but I can't help thinking and waiting for the OP to deliver the punchline.

If I'd got to Swiss emporium or wherever to compare it, I was gonna crack a reverse troll joke, haven't thought it out completely but was gonna bang on about the watch store like it was a big advertisement for the store, and invite everyone to come down, that's the sort of punchline peeps are expecting isn't it??? Haha

But no, it is legit, the fact that Prince William actually called them and confirmed it makes me feel less scrutinized so that's cool.

Man that first night I didn't sleep, was peeking out hard, just wanted to find out it was a $30 eBay fake that I'd paid too much for and it just went too fckn deep... Like wow.

As a side note a couple of months ago I broke my bathroom mirror and well I shit you not I had bad luck in some form every day for over 2 weeks, including friends turning on me, got mobbed and ribs broken, my axe got stolen(random) branch smash my car windscreen, car constantly braking down in rediculous ways(wheel alignment went out ruined my new tyres, various other things, thentwent to leave my ex's house and the gearstick breaks off in my hand, like nope your not leaving today mate) , every thing I tried to do had hurdle after hurdle to achieve but I persisted. Work still hasn't called me either to go back out to sea which it unlucky, my 7 year relationship broke down and we are seperated now etc etc. Even her new car got stolen that week also and became an insurance nightmare and they aren't honouring our claim...

I actually got a peice of glass cut and repaired the mirror in an effort to restore my luck and not much has happened since, but if it was not for the break up, I would not be staying in Melbourne and this would not have happened... How the cookie crumbles I guess...

Poor guy... needs a new car! Even with the provenance being suspect, you could unload it quickly for $15-20k just by taking into a jeweler that knows watches. They typically delay payment for 30 days to check that it hasn’t been stolen— their means of checking (police, manufacturer registries) could be more or less exhaustive than anything you could do. Once identified as stolen you might be entitled to a reward, but that’s less likely if you try to sell first as authorities would get involved. A private buyer would have fewer scruples, might pay you even less. Ahhh of course M2M sale. Everyone saw that coming...

Where I need to be.

I won’t be surprised if the long and verbose posts are all geared toward unloading this as a cheap gen here or elsewhere.
Afterall, OP has been told multiple times that this is a gen already. He has gotten the information he needs. The rest of his posts serve no purpose except to keep member interest in the watch alive and inevitably someone (or many someones) will make an offer for the watch.

Now to all who’s reading: the only genuine thing in OP’s posts is the 15400 shown in the pics. The irrelevant life story aside, I am keen to see where all this is heading.

This picaresque tale tells us that the watch is much less valuable to the OP than its liquidation value.

Ok will do when I get some good ones. Here's the video I took tho, this was when I still thought it was fake, and wanted to show my girlfriend how the Chinese can make a self winding date keeping $30k watch for under $100 lol no wonder I was shocked, that couldn't happen...

You sent that video to your GF of seven years or a New GF?

Might be an important detail for the movie.
