I hold true to what I originally said. The sales area will pick back up after tax time. The forum is based on a resource and information model. There are plenty of folks here looking for that knowledge. They do not always post. I myself don't post that much. Been here almost a year and only have 630. Too much stuff to read. I think the pace is perfect and the content is solid.

All the forums have their place. RG is the active one now, may not be later. I know I have posted 3 to 4 times more posts on RG than I have here although I think I joined this one first.....or maybe not, I forget now since I try to keep up with way too many! I don't do the "nice watch" posts unless it is a member showing his new purchase. I agree that the multiple meaningless posts in the member sales section is annoying. Another reason for keeping up with RG is a dealer or two not listed here. One in particular that is conus based, new and as far as I can tell at least trying to have good customer service. Good information can be found on all forums, so can B.S. Even though I have not posted that much here, I like it here but there are some genuinely nice people on both forums. I really appreciate the mods here, I know it must be work and I don't see how you find the time. Just rambling......Tracy

I work 55 hours per week minimum, I have a 5 & 7 year old, I sit on a non-profit board of directors for a passion of mine, I attempt to have a life as well, yet I found time to code the php coding on RWI & RWC, pay for help with the database out of my pocket and add 5800 posts and tutorials and watch reviews and am usually logged on till 12-Midnight.. I bust my ass here to make things good... but I can only go so far,, I chose not to take the easy road after Tim scammed members, I did not jump ship, I paid out of my pocket money to members who were scammed by Tim till it got to a point I could no longer do it. How much easier would it have been for me to go to RWG where many of my friends are? I chose not to and I chose to contribute. (there are a lot of other staff who contribute as well.. this is just my story).

on behalf of myself and I'm sure many others...thank-you daytona for all the time and effort you put into this place, I'd hate to think what it would be like without you and personally I don't know how you find time for this....there, I wanted to get that in before the thread gets locked.

Amazing how some people can make such a big deal out of the hobby of watch collecting....

Here is a solution:

get one watch you love

get a real hobby that elevates your intellect

make love to a woman

have some kids

and maybe you just wont have too much time on your hand to piss it away on forums and exchanging insults, outwitted comments,etc with strangers that are thousands of miles away ....

My dad used to say: get a life that's interesting enough for you and you wont notice others' pathetic lives...

i guess i am a little confused by this thread. no there is no ban on posting. if anybody wants to post about a subject relayed to our hobby then post.

where are you going with this? you don't like the cartel? repgeeks? any number of other things? cool, we get it. what is it exactly do you want us to do about it? we don't have any support in any way shape or form from any dealers unless you want to call wbk giving his free time helping to moderate this forum a type of support. i don't know about any of the rest of the staff but i don't do business with anybody associated with the cartel and i don't promote them in any way shape or form. i get nothing for doing this job. no discounts, free shipping, free watches, nothing. i don't expect anything nor have i ever asked for anything, i have never even been offered anything and if i were i would refuse because i don't want anybody expecting me to help them with their business. i don't agree with the things the cartel has done and i was one of the very first to call them out on price fixing and shutting out other dealers from being able to supply us with the products we want for a reasonable price. i got so tired of it i stopped buying reps all together. i bough a brand new gen rolex gmt2c with the money i was spending on reps and i am looking for a new genuine rolex platinum yacht master for my wife as we speak. i did exactly what i said i was going to do. i stopped giving them my money all together. i have mentioned it several times but i don't talk about it in every post i write. nobody wants to hear about it all the time. i still like reps but i just haven't found anything that i feel is worth the money. there are just so many quality issues i can no longer justify the cost. 1,300.00 for a hbb? that is absolutely the stupidest thing i have ever heard. right now i know where there is a 2 month old pepsi gmt master for 4,100.00. it is a brand new rolex for christ sakes with the full warranty from the original owner.

if you want attention kept on the cartel's intentions and actions behind the seens maybe you should take a different approach. :wink:
