By definition, an obsession with anything is not normal yet it happens to the best of us. An obsession with Panerai watches is much healthier than say, an obsession of
sniffing bicycle seats. Panerai watches are my favorite, and while my obsesssed
frenzy of collecting them has cooled, I still follow the latest Panerai tidpits every day. They are after all the coolest watches around in my taste and many others.
So, welcome, buy as many as you can stand and share your discoveries with all of us whack jobs of the forum, because we are all in this together. Waiter! Another
anvil dropped on my foot please!

I don't consider it an obsession until they make therapy meetings for it.

So in my denial, this is just a hobby.

The first 90 days are usually the roughest - and the most spent haphazardly... I came into this just curious, maybe a PAM 111h just because I thought they were 'kinda cool'.... In the first 3 months: 3 pam's, 3 rollies, 3 breit's, 1 omega, and 1 iwc... Oh, yea, and about 11 straps.... The 'fever' is starting to subside slightly, but not ending. Your taste will move towards the higher-end rep's after buying some "great deals" that are pretty crappy and the disappointment will be such that you will swear off the cheap-o's and only want the nicer stuff - until you see that next 'great deal' again..... One tip I would have (other than starting to hide the visa bill from your wife) is one I discovered by accident and kinda like to use now - if I'm not sure about a style, I will buy the 'cheap-o' to see if I like it and would wear it, then if I do I will order a nicer version - but if I don't then I haven't wasted a large sum of money (i.e. I've discovered that the seamaster just doesn't look as good on my wrist as it does on others).

It's a blast though, welcome aboard and enjoy the ride!!! (and go to paperless visa bills.... easier to hide and you don't have to worry about beating the wife home to get the mail around the 1st of the month)

I'm in the same boat as you bud. The bug hit me earlier this year and joined the forum recently b/c i got infatuated with the PAM's after seeing a collection of gen's and reps my buddy had.

Lurking around the forum doesn't help either, you see what mods the OG's are doing and it just gets worst from there...welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. =)

I started with $40 reps from local rep stores near where I live, had 2 PAMs, 1 Sub.
It then went to $80-$100 reps.
Then I found RWG, RG, and RWI, suddenly I'm in possession of 7 upwards of $200 reps.
I kept reading the sites and I've since sold most of my watches, but am now in the $500 upwards reps game.

I swear I'll quit once I hit $1000 reps, I promise... :-D

It will come to a point that you slow down, more focus and you will start trimming your collection.

A gen or two addition of the watch that has never been repped before wouldn't hurt too.

I've come to realize women don't get obsessed with things like watches (or cars, or sports, or...).

Is there any female member herein this forum?... I doubt it.

It's in our makeup; we need obsession, if it's not watches, it's something else. Watches are relatively harmless (if you have the money for it).

So enjoy... and don't expect your wife to understand. They won't... nature made them that way; the only thing women get really obsessed with are babies.... Otherwise the human species would not survive.
