Is Noob AP Roo second @12 so unreliable or the watchsmith played a trick on me?

Yesterday, I went to do crystal swaps for my 2 ROO. After that one of them stopped working on the same day and the other one stopped today. I have been using both for 2-3 months. Can the watchsmith played a trick on me or the movement of ROO@12 is so unreliable? Can the watchsmith do something and the watch still working or many hours before went dead.

The movements in recent times seem to be reliable and sounds like you've been unfortunate. Most watchsmiths will steer away from fixing these lower quality temperamental movements. And you may want to find a modder on the forum. Get the AR'd at the same time and maybe in 3-6 months, you''ll have your babies back.

Many people have had ROOs for a long time and all still working fine.

My suggestion is when entering the ROO collecting, you need to budget for servicing.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Appreciate your reply. I want to think that I am unlucky but it is so coincident. They have been working fine until yesterday and not only one but both of them. I cannot make a complain because when I left the shop they were still working. I have another 2 ROOs and so afraid that they can stop anytime. Love the APs but now bothered by its unreliability.

What MAsmann said: Aps roo are expensive reps because they must have Ar jobs + quality service.

OP said he had 2 fine working APROO´s until he Yesterday had crystal swaps done on both of them. They were working when leaving the shop but both have stopped within 24 hrs.

4me it´s quite obvious they have been mishandled during the swap. Question is what to do about it..

That is what I am curious. But if they are mishandled, can the 2 watches continue to work for many hours?

Got my SB in May, she was running flawlessly for about 1 month, then she started to stop randomly.

It's not a power reserve issue - I managed to reproduce this stopping sometimes (but not always) when laying her crown-side down... laying flat, everything is ok, laying left side down too.

I never opened the watch, did no mods... but now it's time to visit my watchsmith.

I saw the way he did was different from the method shown in RWI (taking out only Bezel). Instead he took the whole movement out and pushed the crystal from behind. It happens that he took out the whole movement a lot faster than working on each screw to release the bezel.

It cant be coincidence that he watchsmith mishandles both ROOs. I think there is a legitimate concern here with the watchsmith.

Question is how to handle it. I would return to watchsmith and ask him to remedy your watch in the first instance. Play dumb and ask him for advice and help, at zero or little cost.

Just let him remedy 1 watch, don't give him both.

Worse case scenario, you'll end up having it serviced by a member of this forum.

Good luck.

Welll aparently. Your nickname "headache" might have been some kind of prophetic thing, jokes apart I would never bring my watches back to the guy who f.cked them up... Save yourself more more worries and just send them to a trusted modder here who will do proper job.

Check out domi if you want a 3 jewel mod or replicantres ( apologies mod they might not be trusted modders here) for a standard services.

I have found most watchsmiths simply do not have the expertise, time, or care about servicing reps. They require EXTRA skill in addition to that, most watchsmiths treat my $1000+ reps like they were Canal Street $20 reps, because that's how they value them. You want a good trustworthy service send it to Rep approved watchsmiths on the forum. There's many. Most are average skilled. The best currently are VAC and Domi. They are leagues above the rest about twice as expernsive and take 6 months waitlist. Worth it.

OP, for me its conform that some gear has slip out on the sec @ 12 mecanism.

He shouldnt do the short cut on taking the movement out, if the watchsmith is not familiar with sec@12a7750.

its the transfer gear who slipped out.

i do have several pictures for reference for you, but i highly suggest you did not do a DIY on the sec@12a7750,

you might broke it and it will be worst.

so better send it to a modder that familiar with it.

you can try GOIN in taiwan, he's near you, but expect a 3 month turn over.

Could also be something stuck in the escapement. This seems to be more and more common.

Just to update. I brought the 2 watches to another watchsmith who told me he cannot repair. So, I went back to the original watchsmith. Thought wanted to complain. The watchsmith seems to be familiar with movement A7750 and told me this movement is so unreliable and if he has choice he will not use it. He quoted me around usd 110 to repair. I decided to try one first and left the watch with him. Not much choice since I do not want to wait for 3-6 months. Will let you know the outcome. Just hope that I will not be tricked.

This has never happened to me after replacing a crystal.
