Is Apple going downhill with mobile devices?

Same here R2. When my company started handing out phones, I was given a Droid. I wanted to throw it at the wall a few times a day. But I managed to adjust. The one thing I dislike highly about Android phones, is that they offer poor support as the device gets older. I had my Droid for 3 years. They finally updated the OS on it , two years into owning it. I finally got a Galaxy S4 last week. Let's see how support is on this.

Apple provied software updates for all their devices. Old and new. Another great thing is that if my Apple product takes a crap, I can go into Apple and likley walk out with a working device.

Droid is a Verizon exclusive if I am not mistaken. Yeah, blame Verizon and Motorola for that. I do think that Google should force a larger hand in getting a rein on fragmentation of drivers and updates so all Android devices are updated accordingly. My GS3 has been update faster than I had expected. I have owned two Nexus devices as well. The newest KitKat is said to address some older devices, we shall see in October 15th or so. But I won't hold my breath, the carriers need to be on board as well.

That's good to know. Yes, Droid is a Verizon exclusive. I could've made a push for us to get Apple devices but as I said before, I think Apple let everyone down on this latest release.

It's quite silly to moan about an android phone not having the latest OS, just go on XDA forums and flash one of the multiple custom ROM's out there, you'll find one smooth and fast for pretty much any handset ;)

Otherwise using the stock OS you're kinda missing the point! :p

As for Apple, I was again dissapointed with the new releases, still no 720P screen, still no NFC support, still only a tiny 4" screen too? Finger print ID and a 64bit CPU? Why 64bit? The phone has way less than 4GB RAM anyway? Don't wear gloves, hope it's not cold! And plastic? There goes all the Apple fan's arguments made against all the Samsung Galaxy phones! Build quality, metal case, blah blah, blah....

Check out the Sony Xperia Z, and Samsung S4 active, dust proof, waterproof, 1080P screen, great built quality, Apple are no longer innovating, they're not even playing catch up, no wonder their shares dropped over 5% on release day.....

Never understood why people still buy Apple stuff? Woefully out specced everywhere you look! They just work? Well, so does every other phone I have ever owned? My BB Q10 is slick and fast, with huge battery life and crazy bluetooth range, my Xiaomi mi2s is crazy fast too and still cost only $300, while everyone at work with iphone 4, 4s, and 5 are always charging their phones halfway through the day I just look on and think why?......

I guess some people don't know any better lol :p

imo people buy apple for the convinience. years ago i had a 3gs that broke, that i bought second hand from another. i brought it into the apple store and told them my battery life sucked, to change it. instead of changing battery, they gave me a brand new one, albeit no box, and took my old one no questions asked. just checked the sim to amke sure it was still under 1 year warranty.

Their customer service is one of the reasons I buy their stuff, it is streets ahead of any of their competitors.

I have had a number of iPhones replaced, by Apple without any issues, even when they have been out of warranty at no cost.

My wife has a galaxy tab2 and a Samsung s3. I have a iPhone5 and ipad3 or what ever they want to call it. And I have to say I love the Samsung for its customisation but the trouble is unless you have a lot of time on your hands to invest in learning how to use it. Your gonna be overwhelmed by it and find it frustrating. Trust me my wife gets angry all the time and asks me how to do this or get that on her phone. I have to sit and figure it out or google how to do it. Where me being a busy person my iPhone is simplistic in its design. Not as customisable but everything is easy and one or two touches away.

Sent from my iPad cause I'm to lazy to sit at a computer.

Every time I use an iPhone it feels like I'm using a toy designed for toddlers, stopped buying them after the first one, there was so more innovation. I like to tinker with things so Android is a lot more appealing to me, superior hardware, open source software and love the freedom of changing every aspect of the phone and cooking my own ROMS to fit my needs.

I have a ipad a iphone 5s and i have a macbook pro 17 in. I have that macbook pro for the past 6 years. I never had a problem with it. The ipad is good but after one year im having some issues with it though none are software related.

I have a dell mini a dell inspiron (all the bells and whistles) and had a black berry curve. Ill stick with apple products from ow on.

I walk past the Apple Store and Microsoft Store pretty much every Saturday.

The Apple Store is packed and you can hear crickets in the Microsoft Store.

I chose an HTC One X over the iPhone. ;)

could you see the crickets? why didn't you do something. crickets are annoying.

iPhone definitely targets simplicity and experience VS customisation, but software restrictions are somewhat of a deal-breaker for me...

...going back to basics... Samsung S4 is WAAAAY too big for me to keep in my trousers, that might prove another deal-breaker!!!
