Hi. I've been lurking for maybe a month or 2 but just made my first purchase on intime with Ryan yesterday. Went for a Vacheron overseas and excited to get ahold of it. The most I have ever done in terms of watches was purchasing a Gen Moonswatch and a few google pixel watches. I HAVE A LOT TO LEARN, but when I'm done learning I think I'd like to try my hand at creating a superclone rep watch.
My background is in engineering. I consult for many companies, including the Swatch Group. If I were to peruse through my company's database, I will probably find a ton of CAD models for watch parts. I wouldn't be surprised if all the watch companies used our services at some point. We provide services for the majority of the Fortune 500.
I have a machining lab at home that includes a 5 axis cnc, turning, and a wire EDM. In a previous life, I worked in R&D for a machine tool company and had dreams of opening my own machine shop. I have all the necessary equipment and machines to make any aerospace part at home or at our company lab, which has even more equipment (Millturns and Sinker EDM).
I am going to do the research on various weaknesses of the popular reps and probably figure out a manufacturing process to correct those weaknesses and contribute to this community. I will be asking a lot of questions probably. If there are particular Gen vs Rep Gurus out there that can point me in the right direction, please introduce! Otherwise, happy to start in the hobby and I'm enjoying the very active community.
Thanks for welcoming me in fellas.
