International travel with replicas? Customs? Confiscations?

Say one wants to take 6 genuine quality reps in a watch roll across different countries. Would there be risk of customs levies or confiscation?

I know one or two might elude attention of the authorities concerned. Question is 6. I also know that a suitcase full of these fine pieces will definitely attract unwanted attention.

Countries of current interest would be (eastward order) France, Germany, Switzerland, Dubai, India, Thailand, Singapore, Phillipines, Japan, and of course, back to the good ol' Trumplands.

Of course, it will be nice to know about other places not mentioned above too.

Don't take my word for it, but I figure if they're all sized to your wrist you should be ok...

I take somewhere between 6 to 12 watches with me every time I travel internationally (and I do travel a lot!) Never had an issue.
I guess one time they asked me to open my travel watch case thinking I was selling them or something, I told them that they were all mine, we joked and laughed about my addiction for a while and that was it (it was a mix of gens and reps). You will be fine.

I've looked into this. I think the best course is to register them with your home country's customs office ahead of time so you have documentation you possessed them before departure. This is what I've concluded from my research with US customs. Most have a random serial number...only one that doesn't is my TC.

They will not take it or you wont have problems.

These are all personal use. If you had all rep boxes, fake receipts and the whole package yes you will get in trouble as it looks like your smuggling to avoid custom taxes and duties. If they are all used and in a carry box they dont give a damn. I've done it over 10 times travelling everywhere in Europe to the US to Asia. Not a single drama anywhere even when they looked inside. Just tell them the truth that you love watches thats it.

I would and plan to as soon as we decide on a vacation that takes me out of the country. They do nothing but file paperwork and give you a copy. They don't check with Rolex, if they are high quality reps, a custom officer would not know gen from rep, nor would they care.

I travel with 6 or more watches. Just don't have them wrapped in original packaging. I keep each in a travel case or the hotel shoe polishing mitt. When going through the airport they are in my man bag so they are not out of sight. All I would have to do is show them a photo of my 36 watch winder box [emoji41]

Nothing to worry about, absolutely nothing - except if You get caught of course....
"Former German star Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is at the centre of a storm after failing to reveal who gave him two Rolex watches, said to be worth £84,000, while he was on a trip paid for by World Cup 2022 hosts Qatar. Rummenigge ran into trouble on his way home from Doha when he was stopped by customs officials at Munich airport on February 7 as he passed through the ‘nothing to declare’ channel. When the watches were discovered, he said they were a gift from an unnamed friend and he had not realised he had to pay import duty on them. Reports in Germany say the local tax authorities have now fined him €250,000 (£209,000) for not declaring the watches at the time."

I travel a few times a month, I normally take 4 and have never had an issue.

It usually a mixture of gens and reps and they fill different roles - diver, dress, leather & bracelet.

I've been asked to open the box, asked why I have so many...um actually that's not 'many' my box at home has 'many', this is just the same as taking dress shoes and trainers.

We had a laugh and that was it.

Considering the lengthy trip you'll be taking, 6 watches is plenty fine (at the very least, a 6-day trip  ). Just as long as it does not look like you'll be selling them (with boxes and papers or multiples of the same watches). If there's registration prior to your trip then all the better to prove you already had them at the start of your trip and you aren't trying to skirt customs by carrying the watches without the boxes and papers.

He probably had the box/papers/warranty cards and everything on him. It looks like he tried to hide to avoid customs. Like I said dont carry the original box's or receipts/cards and you will be fine. Watches are meant to be worn overseas especially with the GMT function. There would be millions and millions of people who carry multiple watches on travel. Your worrying for no reason.

Maybe it's his first time travelling with so many watches. The curse of reps, you eventually accumulate too many to carry.
