Incomming! Really cool square Bulova date.

Just picked up this Bulova tonight. I just started my own consignment business, so I have regular customers I go to on a weekly basis. One of them is a scrap gold buyer. I always get first shot on any watches he gets in before they get melted down. So today I stopped by and he said he hasn't gotten any gold watches in. I was a little disappointed, but there is always tomorrow! Well, while I was there shooting the breeze and he had a customer come in with a bunch of scrap silver, gold, and some costume jewelry. He separated it all, and bought all the gold and silver, and gave the customer back all of the costume jewelry. I saw this watch in the junk pile so I told the scrap buyer if you could somehow buy it, I would buy it from him at a later date. Well, he somehow was able to get the watch thrown in with the deal and he sold it to me for $5! I couldn't believe it! I haven't been able to find any information on it. I find it unusual that it has the date feature. The case is in pretty good condition, just buffed it a little. The dial is MINT and has a great pattern on it! Also, do you think the stretch band might be original? I don't really care for the band, but if it's original, I will keep it. The back of the case is marked 10k rolled gold plate Bulova M7 F402965. It has been keeping excellent time all day and everything seems to be working great! It has a small crack in the crystal, so if anyone could give me a hand on finding a new one for it, I would greatly appreciate it!

I bought that Rolex at the antique shop I work at part time. There was a new dealer moving in and had a case full of broken watches, pens, coins, etc. Well, I went over while he was working on this case and introduced myself and wished him the best of luck with his booth! He then proceeded to ask me what kind of stuff I look for. I told him I'm always looking for clocks and watches, and Parker or Watermans pens. He said he didn't have any of those pens that trip, but had a box of watches that he let me have first refusal on. I gladly took the box behind the counter to check out all the treasures! I didn't see much, a few broken Timex's, a fake Movado. And then I see this silver colored watch with a beautiful blue enamel bezel! The dial was signed Stock and Brickle, which I never found to much on. I didn't have anything to open the back with on the spot but told him I would take it for the $10. He then proceeded to say he would give me 15% off! I insisted it was not necessary, but he insisted. I then got it home, threw it on the work bench, opened her up, and started drooling and I couldn't hold my excitment in, I had to call my fiance in the room to share this moment with! I ended up throwing it on eBay and selling it as is.

And then there's the story of the 18k Baume and Mercier chrono I bought for $17...

I REALLY want to get a leather strap for it, but I need a very, very long one, and am having a hard time sourcing one. I also believe the band might be original and am on the fence on changing it, even though I would prefer a leather strap. Also am having a hard time souring a new crystal. =(

I kind of regret selling the Rolex. The fiance likes old stuff like me and grew a liking to it, but the quotes I got to repair it were just insane...

Well, I no longer have pictures of that one. They were on my old computer which is no longer with us...

Here's the story on that one:
I was at an auction locally that I used to work at for shits and giggles. I wasn't working for them anymore, so I stopped by, looking for cool old stuff, as always. There was a TON of box lots, full of junk and hidden treasure, and everything in between. They were just piled on top of each other. Well, the auction started, I didn't see any watches other than a vintage Omega he had advertised that was going to be sold by itself. I hang out for about an hour or so, sitting in the front row like usual. Then a box lot comes up that really intrigued me. There was a box full of military items, which I always had luck with on eBay. I decided I wanted to buy it, so I ended up buying it for $15 plus a buyers premium. I mostly bought the lot for a pair of military binoculars in the original case.

So I bring the box to the car to start looking through it. Alot of average stuff that would go for like $10 to $20 each item on eBay, so I know I already did well. Then I inspect the binoculars hoping they aren't broken as they were really nice! I noticed they didn't seem to fit well into the case at the auction, which made me worried. Unfortunately, one of the glass lenses had a crack in it. I take them out of the case to find out why they won't fit, and at the bottom of the case, there's a gold colored watch! At the time, I didn't know much, I was about 16 years old. I take it out and realize it's pretty cool. It had all the different smaller dials on it (not knowing the term chronograph at the time haha!). I brought it to my mothers jeweler to have it looked at because I wanted to just keep it and wear it. He told me it worked great but could use a service. He told me the case was solid 18k yellow gold, and he was able to date it to 1939. The dial was MINT, the case was MINT, it was almost safe to say it was close to NOS, but there was no strap.

So I bought a leather strap that day after selling some of the items in the box to other bidders that bid against me on it. I wore it for about a week and was always worried about breaking it. So my mother told me that her jeweler REALLY wanted to buy it from me as he really liked it. I told him he could make me an offer, which he did. He offered me $400 for it, which I sadly took. At the time, it was a great profit! I was happy, but now I'm sick over the deal. I just saw the exact same watch sell for close to 8k at a local high end auction house.

So needless to say, I don't sell anything I like anymore!

I have so many watch stories I could probably write a book.

Appreciate it Badwin! I just like to look at myself as a flipper now. I can't tell you have many vintage Omega seamasters, speedmasters, and constellations I've had, but I wouldn't have been able to keep them all. I always sold one to buy another.
