Nope thats not it. The new one has a serial # on the back that I think ends in 40.
I had emailed Hont asking if he had the Bell&Ross Instrument 03-92 SS BlackWht 42mm Asia 2892 28800bph. His exact response was "hello no have asia 2892 movt".
LOL I know...... not intentionally..... also some dealers have asked who has these so they can source them... I know that Angus is trying to find them 
Trevor's still out.
Like you'd mentioned only 2863-2 version left.

cancelled my order he didnt have the new model left
yep, the pictures he just sent me of the 2863-2 version.
had the 00176 serial.

OK so is the one I have the right one? It's got the A2836 in it although I haven't opened it up to confirm. I wouldn't know what to look for anyway.
Excerpt from my email converstion wth Trevor:
"Thank you very much for your order .
This watch with Asia 2892 28800bph had sold out .
Now the factory product the same model watch with Asia 2836 28800bph movement .
And the price is $1XX USD now"
Sorry for not posting here sooner. I didn't want to go off topic.
I'm thinking it might not be the same one SMIDSY recommended.
As said in the other thread I started, the tells are the lugs and the "&" logo on the case back. Probably the crown too.
I forgot to clean the watches first so there's a speck of lint in the groove in the caseback. It's very clean otherwise. It's funny how things are perfect and rosy and then you start scrutinising the Gen and the Rep and then all these things surface.
Here are the pics for convenience...
