Hey you brave RWI reppers... There seems to be a big buzz regarding waterproofing around here example here and here...so, this thread is not for the faint of heart... more for the brave WIS... emphasize the "I" (idiot) part. I for one am in when I get my Sea Dweller from Lay. (which is warrantied by the way) So here's the deal.

Post the
1. Trusted Dealer
2. Make, Model & Year purchased
3. The activity with water

Only rule is you can't grease your rep... have to go swim out of box. Sounds stupid but I think there's enough nutball out there like me who will verify this myth of QC issues regarding waterproofing. If you've done it already feel free to post. Also include interactions with your Trusted dealer regarding waterproofing.

Feel free to make some suggestions.... and let the craziness begin!

** FAILURES WELCOME TO POST ** We want to know both good and bad...

Be careful with unserviced Pans and Breitling reps in the water .. I haven't had too good of luck with them ... All of my Rolex reps were fine for the pool and shower, though ....

I've gone swimming with;

42mm Planet Ocean V2
45mm UPO Orange
45mm UPO Black
45mm PO (Silix)
Breitling SFSO

Swimming, hot tub, sauna, cliff diving, water skiing, Ocean, and water parks.

Only issue was that the insert popped off the Silix PO on one particularly rough water slide. I found it though and re-glued it. Now mys SFSO sees most of the water duty and has not had a problem.

All my Rolies from the noob factory LOVE the water !!! To be fair to the more senior members who react rather negatively to this type of rep/water relationship .. I have noticed that the water resistency has gotten much improved over the last couple of years. It's not perfect, and if you would be devastated if your watch got a little water in it, by all means, have it pressure tested. My luck has been really good so far, though ...

I know what you are thining doc... this can't be a good idea... but on the contrary this will bring the quality up and uphold the dealers to their word. Imagine having 50% reps returned cause of water damage... think what they will have to change. But it seems that's not the case so far.

stolikat, I also understand what you are saying... but if Dealers are saying these kinds of things.. then why not.

ReplicaMake.com Said:

"Yes sir. Do not shy diving with watches purchase from me. I am giving you warranty. Thanks"

"Swim with confidence. Thanks"

"Hi, i did check the watches personally and it is working well, it is normal no worry. We seal the watch personally, not with factory like those oversea dealer. Swim confidence with watches from us. You got our warranty "

Then why not hold them to that standard! I think in the long run "Water Resistance (for you doc)" will be the norm for reps... at least diving reps.

Were all your reps from silix?

I would say most diving watches, so long as you trust the gaskets are in place and form a proper seal AND that the caseback is screwed on tight, you "should" be fine with swimming and snorkeling. Any serious diving, I'd get the watch pressure tested and/or serviced beforehand.

Of course it counts! Any water activity is good information especially for buyers. Maybe you'll be daring later and update this to swam with it. :)
