thinking of getting a rep breity for my brother's birthday. His wrist is larger than mine, so i say ~ 6.5 inches?

this is what his wife says: "yea he's talked about the Breitling and seems to really like it, but the problem is that it's pretty big around his wrist. He's mentioned watches for pilots and race car drivers type watches before...cause he's a wanna-be. Other than that, I have no idea. Hope this helps. "

i tried to see if breits have 40's but the smallest is 42's. I dont know if 44 will be overwhelming for him since he's not worn any larger watches. before.

He sports a timex currently. He's a doctor and i thought it be nice if he had at least 1 darn nice dress watch for special occasions :)

i had thought about steelfish, but found out those were 44's? and i like to avoid chronos so that if he has problems in the future, it be hassle free.

THAT though is really limiting - :( i just see chornos for breity's everywhere :(

any suggestions are helpful :)

You know I'm one of these people that doesn't think big watches on small wrists looks silly. I think a steelfish would look fine plus its a pretty nice rep. The white would look awesome just dressy enough to wear with a suit but understated enough to wear with jeans.

Steelfish or BCE.
As I'm still waiting for Steelfish, I cannot post a pic. Maybe a panny 44mm on a something like 6.5inch wrist could show it:

but here's an idea of the BCE .
On leather:

On genuine diver:

On steel:

I don't think these look silly on my wrist... Hope this helps. :D

hey nice! thanks for the suggestion guys. do you think a blue dial steelfish would look good as a dress watch?

and the BCE, chrono, does the rotor whirl much?

the BCE is 42 mm right?

Crick....you are so funny....your brother the wanna be....good.....my recommendation is also the steelfish - no chronos....with a ETA 28xx
very nice, dressy, sporty, not to pimpy watch.....with style. and pressuretested.
get him a gen rubber strap - so he has the steelband - and the blue rubber band.....that makes almost 2 watches....timeless, reliable, and they keep their value.
- and if he is getting tired of it.....you get it - Crick....it doesnt get better then that !!

Here is a shot of the Superocean on a 7.5 in wrist.

Get the SO.

Even on the gen forums (TZ) the Superocean is the HOT item.

The BCE is 43.7, might be the better dresswatch on steel bracelet or on calfleather. I've had two of them (both asian), one with whirling noises and one without. I guess it's a bit of luck. Both work great (at least I hope for the one I sold, too).
The Steelfish at the other hand is definately the more reliable watch and doesn't need to be serviced as often as the BCE in my opinion.
You can't go wrong with both of them. :D

no one's mentioned navitimer?

i know my bro likes aviator watches and the navi has an aviator feelish to him. He's an airforce doc btw, so he's constnatly blabbering about the planes he flies in.

i'm leaning towards a used navi right now - might be a good start for him? not sure.

Hopefully true.
A used Navi would be less bucks to spend but still a very nice watch (specially the series speciale).
But in my opinion, the quality can't be compared to the new reps like BCE or Steelfish.
Still, a navi has a very unique and classy design, probably the most known Breitling ever.

I still don't think a 6.5" wrist is small - I'm 6', 180 with a 6.5" wrist and I can pull off 44mm Pannies and the 45.5mm PO without problem. I think the rest of your body is more important than your wrist. If I were a scrawny dude with a 6.5" wrist, it would be different.

So, as long as he's not a skinny dude, don't be afraid to go 44mm for your brother.

Black chrono colt with black leather strap. Not too big for a someone with slim wrists!

I don't know what you guys are thinking? Steelfish is a pretty substantial watch, especially on a 6.5" wrist. This guy is not used to large watches either. Go with a Navi. 42mm is just enough to introduce him to large watches. The chrono colt is also a good idea, but not sure if there is a decent rep out there?

hmmm
I'd choose the SuperOcean. Purely because its very well built, waterproof, and can be casual as well as classy - with the right strap combo.

He can abuse it in the same way as his Timex and not worry. I reckon the asian 7750 isn't tough enough to cope with shocks and fiddling from idle fingers etc...

...and I choose either the black or blue dials - for the same reasons above.

As nice as the BCE is, its a little too bling sometimes. As for the Navitimer rep; the lack of AR annoys me. For a rep of such a legend, the makers need to put it in a higher class to compete with the BCE.

Just my .02...

Navitimer... MMMMmmmm...

You know what's funny, I ran into this exact same scenario with getting my bro one as well. He is going to be graduating from flight school soon, so I thought, what better than a Breit. Haven't followed through with it yet but I was thinking about the Navi. Now with all the 7750 issues, I'm not so sure anymore....

Decisions, decisions....
