Thanks for understanding, because I want you to know, its not an attack on you. I'm just laying out how it is.

Best thing to do is find a small mom and pop shop, be honest with the guy. Tell him look I got this rep watch, I didn't pay much for it (even though you did) its working incorrectly, and I was wondering if you would have a look at it, maybe lubricate it, or at least give me your professioanl advice as to weather it can be reparied or not and if so whats the cost involved. Also warn him of the weak stem, as you don't want him to break it by accident. The guy probably will assist you however he may not gurantee his work (cause its a rep) and may warn you of possible breakage during his attempt to repair it and will probably advise you that he will take no responsiablity if it does break.

Um, can I just remind everyone of one thing? Puretime don't make this watch!
People are talking like it's the dealer's fault the thing has issues, it isn't. Do you blame
Do you blame "Downtown Motors" if your new Chev (and the new Chev of a lot of your mates) drops it's drive shaft because of a weakly designed uni joint? Of cause not, you blame the maker or the designer. No difference here. The way you guys talk one would think that PureTime was forging these from a block of steel in the back room, not so, he's not even the only person selling them.

100s of these have been sold on t his forum alone and if we discount those that broke while being worked on a couple of stems have broken, not that horrific a toll at all really.
Still not good but not the overblown disaster it's being made out to be. I'd say the failure rate is far below that of the early sec@6 'tonas for example.

Even if we include the stems that broke while being worked on how many is it all up? 8? 10? Out of 100s? I won't call it a storm in a teacup because for those involved it isn't and it is indeed an issue in need of addressing but it looks to me like those most involved in stirring the pot don't have a horse in the race.

housem: you have two choices:

1/ Send it back to Angus and have him either fix or replace it

2/ Send it to Katt and have him look at it.

Your right, they don't make the watch they just knowingly sell a defective one. Better still, they charge you for the parts to fix it that are just as defective as the one's that broke. So you now ($400+ dollars later) have the world's most accurate watch. Twice a day.

Defective? Did you read the last post? TWO that's 2 stems broken (not counting those broken while pulling the watch apart) does not make a defective watch.

Good Lord, if you people had been around in the bad old days of the early 'tonas I shudder to think.

I'd love to know the approx markup on a $400 rep SA3135 sub. The only variance from the $150 version is the movement and we know that there's plenty of vig on the base version.

The guys that sell them don't make them but I'd guess their take on each sale is very significant. Since they do not manufacture watches they are a service provider and their success or failure depends on their level of service. If they don't stand behind the product, it's just greed and bad business.

Personally, at $400 I think the rep risk/reward dynamic changes significantly. You can pick up some decent Swiss made gens for not that much more. (e.g. Chris Ward, Tissot, etc.)

Still two camps here..and this is again, to remind all members, a thread about those who love their YM and SA3135..

you're most welcome to add if you find anything else positive about the SA3135 or something that can help Angus or Trail with improving this movement and its parts..

Constructive unbiased neutral feedback pls..

there's another thread dedicated to 'blaming' Angus and this defective movement and everything bad about it..

let's keep it separate..

Thought this thread was dead and buried? Guess not. So you know, the V2 is out, and it has a 25% thicker stem. Also the engraving on the back of the movement is gold and clearer. Contact Angus for more details. I'm going to give it a shot now that the thicker stem is out. Also the thicker stem will fit the V1 movement.

Well crap, should've kept the v1 YM. Getting just the stem without them trying to sell another watch would be a nightmare.

OK...thanks for sharing ruprekt.
Now that the SA3135 seems to be on it's way to "stardom" can the factories now begin the elimination process for a SA3185.....please :)
