That Crown / Crown Guard combo is outstanding for an off-the-shelf rep.

Did you get the 001B caseback from Angus, too?

Also, should the B series have AR on the crystal? If not, I've heard from a well respected watch restorer that automotive rubbing compound should remove the AR coating.

haha that's so awesome... trial and error I guess :) THanks for the tip.

The 001 should not have A/R - so maybe I will give it a shot with your method.

Regarding the the CG fit - Angus told me that this case is made from another factory. so, it might be a gamble to try to fit it to your 114, I am not sure. From my experience, you also need to make sure that the CG goes with the crown as well... for example, Ruby's famous 036's CG won't fit a normal 177... it'll be too tight of a fit. Normal 177 usually comes with thinner crown but with really really long stem.

Yeah, I know it may take some "fiddling" to get it to fit properly. I'm swapping a Palp crown onto my 114, anyway, so I'd just have vac do the whole thing and modify the length of the lever or the stem to make it fit correctly. I'm just worried about the screw holes lining up.

Congrats! Can't wait to see the pics. How did you get a hold of Puretime? I want to order one too but so far no reply from PM and email...

I PM-ed him and he replied back and gave me his e-mail address. He will get to you, I am sure.

If the watch comes to me as pictured in his post, I will be a very happy man haha... below are Angus' pics:

Very nice, esp. the CG.
The crown, while thick, is wrong. It shouldn't be flush with the case. The crown should have a ridge, whatever you call it, before the case, like this:

That's important to me. I hope they use the right crown.

actually the biggest flaw with them is they need to be beveled on the edges a little more. the gap between the case and the crown varies from year to year so that wasn't a issue for me at all. i have seen the gens sitting everywhere from on the case to farther out than the picture you have shown. panerai is one of the most inconsistent watch makers i have ever seen.

From the look of the case, it's the same as Ruby's 113 that she sold a while back.
Its a great looking watch for sure... no cannon pin issues??

That's good to know. I got very hung up about this gap. That helped open more opportunities for me. Thanks.

That and the fact that the teeth are too big and there are too few of them. That CG is gorgeous, though.
