the 177h was custom modded by me w case, dial, hands, movement, crown and CG from different dealers.. now i've modded it to a 176h cause i prefer the base dial..

the 195 is another custom piece based on the design of the "original" 195..

I've looked around JB/KL and search online for a good 177h rep, but am still there is always something in each rep that bothers me. So I've decided... I want to build a 177h, just like you did, azgjav... Any pointer?

What I'd probably do is to buy parts from different dealers and assemble myself. Will RWI dealers be willing to sell the parts separately? Or should I get a good one from a dealer and mod from there?

Here's the tips if you don't mind wrong movement style (You get Swiss ETA6497-1 in return).
Get a replica PAM036 with Swiss movement from any of the dealers here. Then get the sandwich dial and hands from davidsen.

Advantage:
No Short pin issue. Movement has high canon pin installed.
Thick crown + Crown guard.
Very very good AR coating.

Disadvantage:
Wrong movement style (177h should come with Swan Neck Regulator. However up till today, none has repped this movement perfectly).
Cost may be high (getting dial and hands alone will cost you more than 50USD).

Hmmm... better still. You may end up with PAM036 :)
Mine is fantasy with black dial. There is another rep (same specs) only with brown tabac dial.

i assembled the watch when the 177h wasn't available..here's what i did:

dial + movement from river's swiss swans' neck 111h..dial sent to finepics for relume..
case from river's 177F.
crownguard and cg from a 2nd hand, dead pam036, the old one with the thick CG and crown..it's impossible to get a new one from the dealers now..
hands from davidsan..

modded the crowntube to accept the thicker crown from the 036, shortened the movement stem and added 2 flat O-rings to maintain water resistance..reshaped the CG lever to make it look more like the gen. reshaped the CG so that the lever si tight against the crown...

changed the rubber gasket of the caseback to a thicker one to increase water resistance..sealed the back sapphire crystal w superglue-sealant..

davidsan's cannon pin installed and polished w capecod..

movement polished w capecod and buffed with a jeweler's cloth. dial side of the movement buffed w a jeweler's cloth.. teeth of the winding gears, swans neck regulator, sides of all bridges and the sunken jewel holes are polished w capecod..

subsequently i replaced the dial w a 112h base dial, relumed by finepics. hands from davidsan..case back was replaced w the one from the pam36 as it does not show the series number (old one was F20XX)

sounds like a lot of work! but it's d@mn fun!

well..the old 036 case with the thicker crown and CG has apparently been discontinued..

the case is also different from the newer cases and will not accept the thicker sandwich dial.

the old 036 has the normal rep short cannon pin but a really really thin dial, so it got away with the cannon pin issue..

however, the AR on the pam036 is AWESOME! apparently the real pam036 does not come w AR..

To convince you that PAM036 is a good alternative. Easier to obtain than azgjav's mod... But WHERE'S THE FUN?

Thank you! Relumed dial too... albeit not that neat but it works!

dscn3651nc9.jpg

Or another alternative: Get an oxidised Ti with carbon dial... This watch has a character and I think Richemont should create something like this:

Better lume by same person... I guess reluming jobs depend on mood as well:

AGREED! That's the kinda of Ti case I have in mind... sharp and defined.

For the dial, I'm very particular about color, hence black dial is my only choice. And I'm thinking of a nice H-series dial, so I'm thinking Davidsen's super-lumed.

Movement. Now this has always been the headache when I go rep hunting in JB/KL. They'd always tell me 'this is the best' while showing me those with correct bridge but no SN... Yes, I'm going to be particular about the SN (spoiled me...).

Thick crown and CG. I think I've seen someone offered a good thick crown that look like Ti crown. Was it Davidsen? Can't remember. As for CG, I think it's going to have to think carefully about that too.

For now, the only I've seen is Eddie Lee's 117h, but the case isn't as sharp/defined as what I've just seen in yours, takashi and azgjav. But it has a good movement, Côtes de Genève decorated. But then again, it has slight recessed pin.

I'd probably want to take out everything from the case and boil the case and crown, but not too long as azgjav. Am thinking of a little grey but not dark. Need to leave a bit of contrast to black calf straps.

Crown you can try davidsen or jimmyfu. Anyway, grey but not dark is original Ti colour. Once you go oxidation, what you'll get is gunmetal colour (dark, grey, brownish, goldish, bluish) Even my picture of the carbon dial doesn't really represent the real colour.

hell... doesn't matter if it is orig color or not. The fact is... it LOOKS GOOD. With a lil greyish bluish tone, I can picture it looking fantastic with BLACK calf. *dreaming* Lighter-colored Ti case just look so... boring.

Confession: It's the 177 gallery at paneristi website that got me so into the grey Ti case.

oh btw... when you mentioned jimmyfu, where do I find him? Is he one of the dealers?
