The crucial factor is “luck”. Most of the PAMs listed in m2m sell fast and it’s important to be 1st on the listing (however it’s not crucial, sometime the seller choose the buyer giving priority to supporters, known collectors, forum friends, members that already bought from him, local deals, limited to EU/USA/...).

I bet that in every single moment there are at least double figure nr. of members waiting for a PAM to pop in the sale section.

Being a supporter helps as well, being ready to risk with custons to get the special piece helps too..

Then there are a couple of tricks that I will keep for myself on “how to” get the wanted watch.

Good luck in your search! (I scored 4 sold out models in the last 45 days which is not that bad, passed on at least 5-10 more pieces since I either have them or they are not focus of my interest at the moment).

I have been after a 253 regatta for ages. One comes up in M2M today, in EU, but despite being first to comment on thread, god knows how many down the line I am in PM....

I guess we just have to keep waiting and hoping....

I have had slight success with wtb threads, but I’ve been after an 082 for more than a year, dadog keeps beating me to them!

You could be waiting an age for one. I’ve seen 3 since I’ve been here...

I got success from my Ferrari PAMs WTB thread. It took some time but perservering in the BUMPs will serve you in good stead.
Actually, I guess I got my 605 that way. Lol. How quickly we can forget and give way to pessimism.

The wtb section is a who’s who list of Panerai references.

Panerai models need nicknames. Why do so few models have nicknames?

Other than the fiddy and La Bomba... and subzilla, what is there for nicknames and considering the way Panerai References go... why no nicknames?

It's because of the adage "all PAMs look the same". I imagine the basis for the naming is just the Risti community's suggestions. But due to the sheer number of models and the fact that the differences between models may be just be case material, or dial color, then it's not that easy to make a new nickname. For example, the PAM382 "Bronzo" so named because it was (supposed to be) the only Panerai made from bronze. Then the PAM507 came out, which was also made of bronze but Bronzo was already taken, so they took what was unique to the model, which was the PR gauge, and nicknamed it "Pronzo". Then came the blue dial "Bluezo" and the brown dial "Brownzo". That's probably the longest lasting naming line in Panerai. Others are just one-offs like the PAM317 "Black Knight" and the PAM237 "Ghost".

Going back to the thread matter..., I've noticed that on the sales forum here and next door the older models that come posted move quickly. There is indeed a market for them and XF and Noob should take notice even if it would be limited runs here and there. They should try also some PreV and some A and B series.

On a tangential but related topic, I almost landed a 382 M2M. In the end the member couldn’t part with it. I then contacted several TDs and Chazingtime indicated that they have the 382 vsf v2 in stock. Anyone order one recently? I Genuinely thought they were sold out/discontinued.

I think sadly the ship has sailed for Noob or rather under its new captain have decided on a different direction. Even the few ones they should still be producing are either not being produced in big enough quantities or seem to have stopped (due to anecdotal evidence from TDs). Here's hoping against hope that they'll rethink that direction. XF dabbled in a fairly well done 000 but then promptly stopped producing it for some unknown reason. As for the PreV stuff, only DSN seems to be interested in making those but even he seems to have trickled down his releases.

Even if someone recently ordered one, unfortunately that tells you nothing about the current stock of any TD. Just make sure that Chazingtime can assure delivery of the watch you ordered.
