i have a pic taken of the crown guard to show the floppy lever and the corroded screw head, obviously it will be impossible to see the stripped threads in the case. i tried both screws and also a second set of screws i have in the stripped out hole and all of them spin and spin.

It is bewildering to me that on one hand Davidsen provides a stellar product, yet on the other there are way to many stories
just like this one, myself included, about quality control issues. This latest, of yours Pete, is particularly hard to accept for certain,
but don't let it get you down. When my fiddy had issues, I got them fixed at a watchsmith, and your intent to make one good watch out of two bad ones is a good way to fix the problem, along with a partial refund. It's all good. Davidsen will make it right.

Many will say that it's all worth it if you get a good Davidsen,

Maybe I have been lucky, two DSN's and bothj are stellar. I think he just once in a while gets lazy or just ships something he can get away with.

The hassle of shipping back to him and that costs $$$ plus the ass -fucking from customs add insult to injury. Don't quit the reps, Just take a break, get the watch fixed, make it right, sell off the parts to offset your loss. DSN is generally moregood than bad. We should have form letters here downloadable to fire off to him when someone gets screwed. Just cut paste and send after 30 or 40 letters in his inbox, he'll get the message.

Good luck to you.

I had a crown/stem issue very much like that picture develop shortly after I got my PVD MM20 from DSN. I had a local watchsmith fix it for less than $25. The floppy lever is a common issue with all reps. I've never had a PAM rep that didn't have a floppy lever, actually. I agree that putting the pieces together to make one "good" watch is probably the best/smartest way to go.

well, during lunch i took both watches to the watchsmith and he is going to attempt to pull the best parts from the two of them and make one decent watch. so lets see.

one thing is for sure, whether the situation is rectified or not, i won't be ordering from davidsen again. i gave the benefit of the doubt once. fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on you.

It's actually "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." If I allow the same person to fool me twice, its my fault. See?

to carnut, yes i did get that little annalogy wrong, i thought of that after i typed it :)

to everyone else, i just got an email from davidsen after three days and it still doesn't touch on the issue of the stripped crown guard screws.

either way. both watches are sitting at the watchsmith, so hopefully i will get something out of the two of them. I figure this.

first watch cost me 360 after western union fees, so say the second watch is worth 330.

the duty cost me 125
the watch smith told me about 50 worth of work (is that fair?)
shipping for the watch back would have been 30

so if i send davidsen a money order for 100 we should be square.

by the way, my watch smith said that to swap the crystal out of one watch and press it into the other would run an extra forty dollars and he won't accept any risk if the crystal breaks since it is a rep and he is not comfortable with that. so basically i can't use the second case since the crown guard screws are stripped and the crown guard isn't a big fat one like the first watch, so i am going to have to use the first case with the scratched a/r. i still won't have a perfect watch, but at this point, whatever.

by the way, after reading davidens blog about his two employees in china, i am starting to think he too is a dropshipper like the rest of them over there.
