I have a red painted Daytona Chrono hand that I want to modify to only have the stems painted but the center ring plain metal. Any recommendations on how to do this?
Example of what I would like:

If you want try saving the existed paint, mask it with quality electrical tape and use nitric acid for 5' before wash it away with water.
Don't wrap the hand, cut the tape to small leafs and use it as sandwich (3 tapes above / hand / 3 tapes below)

mask again to polish the center if needed.

If you don't succeed to save it, clear the hand with acid and use graffiti paint on a small brush to repaint them.

There are two types of nitrous paint remover, the new water based (sucks and it's more dangerous for people) and the real one that is good less dangerous.
Dispose every nitrous product to any gas station. It stops with water.

Thank you! Out of curiosity why do you recommend leafs vs wrap? I would think wrapping would get a tighter “seal”. Is it so it’s easier to remove?

Also out of curiosity do you have any idea the type of paint that is already on there? (Water, enamel, etc)

Thanks,
Mat

I believe that it's easier to remove them, hands are too delicate. I also think that will seal better without been folded.
Some kind of 1K enamel i suppose. Too tough and needless to be powder coated, not many other paint durable enough.

Hey man, thanks for your help. I am at the same spot but trying to strip the all 3 hands' (hour, minute, and small second) full paint off and get the polish stainless steel look on those hands.

My question is: What if the hand base metal is brass? If it is brass, won't polishing the brass make it yellow-ish instead of the white polished steel look? Will the hands become too thin and flimsy after the paint is stripped?

Thanks again

If hands' base metal is brass you will need help from a jewerly shop that handle repairs. There are some recipes that can produce a color close to steel.
Nickel plating, chrome, silver, platinum etc. Give them an other hand for reference and let them do their best.

The hands should have the same characteristics without their paint. They are thin and they need careful handling anyway ;)
