I really like the PAM389 from KW. But when i get this watch the first think I noticed was the very noisy rotor at the A7750. So let's see how we can fix that problem.

First step, open the watch. I use some sticky gloves for this job. This gloves work with 90% of my watches without any other opening tool. You can also use a sticky ball.

Now we see the "anti magmatic" case under the case back.

Remove the black gasket

The anti magnetic case has a little black arrow

Underneath this arrow is a gap, here you can lift this cover with a screwdriver

Ok, now we have found the A7750 decorated as a P.9000 movement.
The deco plate looks very cheap and is not really needed with a closed case back

5c13c013ae9ccf2693aca329923aaf69.jpg

The next step is removing the rotor.
We see here three little screws in the middle of the rotor. This screws just a part of the deco and just glued. Remove the screw with a tweezers

Also remove the deco plate

Ok, now you can see the real rotor screw. Just use your tweezers too remove the rotor screw.

And the rotor

Now we see the main deco plate. This plate is fixed with just three screws.

Remove this screws and lift the deco plate

This are the parts we have removed and all this parts just for deco.

866d7bb7437054a2651e499af29ef350.jpg

And now we have found our real movement, the A7750

8ecf07a03bb6a780107672a241593167.jpg

I think one part of the winding problem is the stop click.
Too find this click you must remove the first bridge.

b3e1a88355182917d4dae1e46929662e.jpg

Under this bridge we found two wheels and the click

2bfe9d4b3bbcc173483f2b2b41e12d12.jpg

I remove the click and as you can see is the Asian click very very bad, too thin and not very strong. The function of this click is too brake the rotor when you wind up your watch. If this click is broken will the rotor spin around while winding. And it's nearly impossible too remove this cheap click without bending.
Here you can see the Asian click next too a gen ETA click
What a difference.
(P.s. the stop click at the movement pic with the red circle is already the ETA click)

9d8866ab1dc25e4d200d9d5fbd0860f2.jpg

The next part of the nosy winding is the rotor himself.
The bearing at the deco rotor is very bad.
Here you can see the "PAM" rotor next too a OEM ETA 7750 rotor

1a7c73061b3ee4cce725ffe9dc7e8876.jpg

1e9711b7032906d5c1c9066bbef5a2ae.jpg

So what I have done too fix the nosy winding construction is changing the rotor and the stop click with OEM ETA parts. Now clean and oil the two wheels and the bridge and after this little work you have a very smooth and silent winding A7750.

Now just resemble your watch and enjoy.

I don't install all this deco parts because with a closed case back it's not really necessary.

I hope this helps a bit too make your movement quieter

Here is a tutorial how you can remove the dial/movement from the case:

Indeed a great tutorial Chris, very clear even for me! :)
I think the bent click you show in your pics is what makes the rotor of my 382 spin like crazy every now and then. I might try and fix it now.

Well done, rep coming your way!

Wow Chris, this is a magnificent tutorial
Not only for fixing the noisy A7750 rotor, but to know more about the decoration plates and their removing in a decorated A7750 like P.9000
The pics are really good and the explanation and organization awesome
Rep points added and this post would deserve a tutorial award

Thumbs up mate! I've only gone as far as oiling the rotor bearing which only silences it a tad but this is amazing! I wonder if it's possible to translate the rotor bearings to the rep rotor?

Interesting question aflop.
I've played a bit with the rotors now and find out the bearings just pressed in at the PAM deco rotor

I don't try it with my gen ETA rotor but with a old AP rep rotor. The AP rotor has the same bearing construction as the ETA rotor. It's fixed with a clip but you also can remove it from the rotor.

So yes, it's possible to change the bearing at a rotor

Awesome! Would you have the part numbers for the spring and rotor bearing bit? I'm also thinking of changing the main spring to gen eta to get more power

Excellent tutorial. Thanks. i don't know if I have the skills to try it, but it is good to now that if I dared, I'd have a step by step graphic guide.

Many thanks and nicely done! Will have to try this on the 508 once it arrives as I assume it will have this same noisy rotor setup.

The part number of the ETA rotor bearing is 22.040.00 and the number of the spring/clip is 52.120.00.
But you can't use the spring with the PAM Rotor. You must press or better glue the bearing in to the PAM rotor.
But this should be no problem.

LOL, I was following this thinking to myself "but what about the minute counting wheel, oscillating pinion, clutch spring etc"

Then I fell in, duh!

Nice work and a great little tutorial.

One reason why the PAM rotor is so noisy is the high of the deco construction. The PAM rotor sit much higher at the movement as a normal 7750 rotor. This is because of the P.9000 deco plate. But the high make the rotor wobbly and noisy
