My new 42 franken Chronopassion

Crazy indeed. I wouldn't go that far as to buy a gen AP -> strip it out -> put the movt on a 'gen' AP.
lol.

I'll vote for CP.

Don't do it. Cp is good as is so save the gen

don't worry will be save, will have a very strong LWO 283 movement, and if I would like to sell it could fit his movement back.
the question is not gen or franken, but a personalize construction, how far is it possible to go on building a much gen as possible watch, the pleasure of sourcing and creating something when you are not a professional, I think that this watch will be something call an homage more than a franken.
of course I agree a gen will be and still be a gen, but I don't feel the same pleasure I have on building my watches than on buying my gen (daytona, sub, day date), I prefer wear my franken than my gen, more pleasure and satisfaction when I look at them on thinking of all the search, efforts for create them, I know that they are unique and built only for me.
i have exchange with the dealer who sold me some of the parts of my franken, he show me watches he built from gen, not watches made by AP but made by him, I think that it is the most unique thing you could go for, the factory built those piece of arts for everyone, but when you could made your piece of arts it is call CREATION.
my watches are rep base of course, but now they will became homage's. Some of you will be probably offense on reading me, it is just a point of view.
One of my watch will be equal than a gen, same waterproof, same movement, parts, but not creating by the factory and his knowledge but by a passionate with the help and strong skills of all the members here, we all respect, venerate AP, it is the ultimate evolution of our AP addiction, or creating addiction.
when the first franken was built, many says it is too much for a rep, now according to many it is not so much, perhaps some of us will go deeper on creation, we could see some members who are building cases, others who are building gen quality spare parts, it is only the evolution of our possibilities, make our dreams of creation being real, going to a next level, the homage one's.

I vote for the CP as well.

What is the donor watch for that movement? A ref. G56809? If so, that movement precedes the inroduction of the Offshore line.

Not exactly, It is a 2126/2840 calibre the one used by the first generation of royal oak offshore, it is the JLC 889/1 base calibre the newest one is the 3126/3840, major difference is power reserve 6 hours more and more jewels, 56 if I don't forget some's.

Ok, yes, I see. You are going to buy a Huitieme from the 1980s to use as a donor watch for a movement for your Franken. That is really passion, considering that this donor will probably cost about €5,000 and require extra service. The JLC base is actually very nice IMO, although some criticize it: "putting a 4 cylinder in a Porsche" article. Good luck. You really are putting alot into this.

1990s fully service, no extra service it is plug and play, same caliber than royal oak, change it in 2004 by the 3126. I have bought the donor gen AP for the same value of a new franken, you could also find this caliber in the chrono millennium. 4 cylinder in a Porsche? A gen AP movement, How do you consider the LWO so?
