How often are you wearing your watch?

PS: I'd like to add that I never had a replica movement fail on me. But that's not really saying much, as my rep experience doesn't go back further than 2 years and 1 month, but perhaps it says at least a little bit. 😆
Lucky you. You got in when the rep game took off

Looking back 7-10 years ago what you’d get from a TD vs today is night and day. Drives me nuts when people complain about the rehaut not realizing how damn 1:1 some of these watches are

I love it when others do the dirty work first and I just wait for the perfect time to get in! 🤪😎😂

Does anyone actually use those winder boxes?
If no one did, you'd tend to wonder why they continue to be manufactured and sold.

eBoy summed up the two camps of opinion on winders. And, like him, I fall into category b. Plus, I'd rather spend my money on another rep that I need to set the time and date on and wind every time I wear it, than waste it on a device for preventing me from the simple pleasure of setting the time, date and winding my watch before I wear it.

Oh, that's such a great point that I didn't think about in my earlier response, but I totally agree.

What others find annoying, having to set time and wind it after a mechanical watch stopped, I perceive as a pleasuring ritual.

Call it geeky, silly or ridiculous. But for me, this is part of horological enthusiasm. Again, totally depends on your personal preference of course. I would never claim that anyone who finds it annoying isn't a real watch fan. But it's part of the fun as far as I'm concerned. 😁

I only use Orbita watch winders. I have a (4) winder in the safe, a (2) winder for the Mrs. in her closet & two single winders for travel currently in my closet.

I see that many people are buying multiple watches, do you need to adjust the time each time you wear your watch.

I have 1 watch and if I don't wear it for 2 days when I go to wear it my watch has stopped.
Any tips to keep the watch going other than to wear it everyday. Thanks
There are some great watch winders with huge selection of styles to choose from. If you are building a collection I would consider investing in one.

I know that this commentary is somehow out of current topic but the guy that started the post has just ghosted...
I wonder if he followed @BMW760 advice and is still winding them 🤔

My issue with setting the time and date each time I wear the watch, is I don't want to strip the screw when putting the crown back in. This was a warning from a video I watched.

But I will just take the time to set the watch when I wear it.

Most likely it will be time to buy a new style when this one is unable to be set. Thanks for all the comments.

There are two factions in regard to winder boxes:

A) The ones that think that it actually prolonges the life of the movement because when in a winder, the lubricants don't get a chance to gum up, which is bad for overall longevity.

B) The ones that think that this is silly because modern lubricants cannot be compared to those of the 1950/60s when this was indeed the case, but nowadays watch winders just put unnecessary wear and tear on the movement.

In which group you find yourself will be a matter of truly personal opinion. I happen to be in B.
Well I'm in the non-winder camp for now as I know, from absolute lazyness, I wouldn't be wanting to keep swapping out the watch I want to wear from box to winder. I just want to put it on and go!

Plus, I've not yet had rep failure. False sense of security!

I am in the camp the constant friction on the gears from keeping timepiece constantly wound is far better then often unscrewing the crown & adjusting time & date. Plus as stated above, I too can be lazy & it's far easier to grap & go, rather then wind & set time/date. I have 6 timepeices on winders & wife has two.

Yes every day I have to set the time and wind the watch a little. I have over 55 watches and wear something different every day. It's really not hat big a deal. Takes you what, 30 seconds to a minute to adjust. You can either live with setting the time and winding it, get your self a winding watch box or switch to quartz.

So the video basically taught you not to use the functions on the watch ? That's like driving and not using the steering wheel for fear of damaging it.

Are you saying I need to steer while driving?

Well, that explains the excessive wear and tear on my cars!
