I'm curious to find out how much a person is willing to spend on a replicia, the reason why i ask this question is i often said $500 is the max and yet i have started a Franken Pam 003 project and right now im at the $1100 mark? So i ask, how much is a person willing to spend?

Thanks

$350 or so is my limit....unless it is almost exact....then I would have to make an exception

Since I really only collect Rolex reps, and you can get a decently used gen Datejust for $1000...I limit myself to stock MBW or WM prices. $400-450.

Anything more that that...and you would have had a gen within two watches. :D

Also, I consider a rep a watch with a rep movement. If you have a franken with a gen movement and a rep case...totally different. For me, it's the movement and dial that count.

Makes sense, what constitues a watch a Franken watch, a gen movement and Rep Dial or a Gen Dial with a swiss movement but not a gen movement?

well... are we talking about straight up purchase? Or how much would we spend all together on a rep?

I mean... I wouldn't spend more than $400 on a base watch (unless you got a white dial DW on your hands) and then would spend more than that on modding it over the course of the year.....

NO mods needed Genunie Dial and hands, the case from JImmy FU is a 1 to 1 match along wiht the super hard to find crown guards, the only thing you would be changing once completed it will be complete, build with nothing but the best parts available that match the genuine almost 100%.

Yes you are correct i have some specifically for this project, i talk to JImmy on a daily basis buying his cases, bezels, and what not and have tried to convinece him to make more crown guards but he said he is getting out of the parts business.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the gen dial and hands.?

for me.. not really a limit, more like, is it worth the price? also compare to the gen price .. if its $2500.00 watches and I have to pay $1000.00 for a rep... then no :) I will wait for the used or save up more money for the gen. :)

$400 is my cap for a well moded watch. I would spend up to that amount modding one as well. However an MBW I would be willing to dump more on it.

interesting findings i have found a gentleman who had some Genuine dials and hands and i have bought them from him they were very expensive, i have compared them to a Genuine watch listed on Paneristi to ensure tha they are accurate, they have been shipped to me and are in route so the reason why i asked this question was to see if there were others out there who felt that a Rare Pam is worth the money? Now i have found this watch for sale on ebay without box and papers for $3700 that seems fishy to me as all Genuines have all the papers and boxes 99% of the time.

I would never purchase a high end watch on ebay or any other site unless it is a AD, you are correct you never know what you are going to get and usually the deals that are too good to be true usually end up a bad deal, i was mearly pointing out the deal on ebay and how it looked fishy.

OK lets add a twist to this

There is currently no Rep being made of this watch so basically you have a very unique article that will probably end up in someones collection and never be seen again, This falls in line with some of WatchMasters watches, Hopno watches, and some of the other very unique hard to find watches. I guess when i put it in this light i can justify my spending of $1100.
