Wanted to ask you fine folks how flexible you are with defects on your rep. I know there are always tells, but some such as misprints on a dial are just dumb and imo intolerable.

The reason I ask is I recently purchased an ultimate piece from a TD and didn't notice it on the QC pics and until I got it in my hands and had a chance to look at it for a bit. It's something you would have to be looking at the watch really close up (<12") to see, but it is bothering me and am not really sure what to do. I've posted a pic of the dial below, let me know if you can see the defect and how you would feel if you shelled out $400 for it? Overall the watch is AMAZING, except for this one defect, let me know what you guys think and what kinds of defects you'll have put up with in the past with your reps!

Tiny tiny spec missing from the 8 in 1884? Only thing can see. Its unfortunate for sure, but that you s what QC pics are for.

I wouldn't have picked that up in QC pics (often they're small low res pics after all), and I wouldn't have noticed it had Bonesey not pointed it out.

I've never had a small cosmetic flaw with a rep, more stuff like movements being dodgy, which is a huge hassle to send back, so I haven't bothered.

I wouldn't be too fussed, its a very small print. Compared to some of the things I have gotten when I opened the package... Considering its the only small flaw and the rest is excellent I would be happy with it, but thats me.

You know, it would be hard to notice if you don't own one. I'm sure the flaw grew in you, and it's hard to pick up everything from the QC pics.
Is it unfortunate, yes, for sure, but it's rather minor.
You can "age" the watch, I guess :p

Ding Ding Ding!! That's it, and honestly the watch is great except for that. I know no one will see that unless they're uncomfortably close, but it bothers me that it's there. I've only picked up ultimate reps and all of them have been perfect as far as I can tell, so this is my first "flawed" rep...

It is unfortunate that they ask $400 for a watch like this. For that kind of money they should take a little more care when building it. But it is what it is, an illegal built replica in a shady factory. It's not following any regulations or standards other than the ones imposed by us, the buyers. I don't know what can be done, we can't stop buying them so I've learned to live with small imperfections like this in my reps, it's gonna consume me for the first few days but after a while I stop thinking about it and enjoying the watch.
Another solution is to have it send to a mod, which is another subject that pisses me off, having to pay $400+ and wait weeks to have a watch serviced, lumed, AR when the factories already have the capability to do all these things.I bet they could make a lot of profit if they would start selling an ultimate version for extra $200 with all those goodies straight from the factory. They already have the tools so instead of applying the cheap 0.10 cents lume why not applying $4 worth of Superluminova and make $50-$100 extra.

No, in my opinion, they are maximizing profit the way it is. They sell a lot of watches as is right now, and the profit margin for extra service doesn't seem to be as great as what they would get from just the watches.

Also, in this world, high price doesn't necessarily serve as an indication of how good the watch is. After all, the $400 watches are assembled by the same people who put together $100 watches without a proper QC process. I think the QC process could also serve as an excuse for not being careful, because if they could get you to say "yes", it becomes your fault.

It's tough, I mean on the one hand that's one of the more accurate models repped. But it makes it so much more significant that this is something that was presented to you in that condition. To me it seems the dealer's fault, because they are trying a game of "let's see if we can sneak this by the buyer..." Unfortunately it did and now you are aware of it and it eats you up whenever you think of your watch. All things considered it sucks, and what can I say:

a. wear it as is and try not to let it bug you
b. sell it on the fora as a c & r and disclose the issue and why you are selling it. (though you probably will not get back what you paid for it and that sucks even more)
c. save up and get another dial and spend more money on a super rep.

For the record it's not that bad but once you know it's there it sucks.

Yeah, I have definitely lost faith in the dealer. I went through 2 other seawolf qc pics they sent me because the first one was on a rubber strap as opposed to a bracelet which I had ordered it as and on the second the 6 o'clock marker was crooked. This was the third one they sourced for me I finally gave them the ok on. Also I bought another piece from them which the crown is messed up on and the hands are misaligned, both which I couldn't tell from the QC pics. I've sent an email to them to see what they propose, but definitely a TD I won't be going back to given all of the issues I've encountered...

Who did you buy from?

I'd rather not call them out just yet, let me see how they handle this and I'll take it from there. I do have to say they are however super responsive and I don't see them letting me down, it's just a pain to go through all this...but then again that's what I get for not buying gen!!

if u get a new dial and have it replaced and maybe try n sell the old one to cover smithy expenses partially, you'll still have to wait but in the end you'll have exactly what u wanted which is a good feeling. Somebody out there might have received the same watch with say, a missing marker on his dial, you'd get back some bucks and make him happy.
I can understand your feelings.
good luck

I've seen worse Seawolves in the past with roughly similar pricing. This one has the improvements. Appreciate what you have.
