Hello folks,
I have been a forum member for almost 10 years and have learned a lot here even though I am not a frequent poster. I am opening this thread because I had a bad experience with watch modder member slaughterer62.
I sent him my pam671 to install a brand new gen Swiss 7750 movement. He did the job really quickly and shipped the watch back. He confirmed that the watch was tested at 5 bars pressure but he refused to loktite the crown guard screws even if I asked him many times. His response was that the screws don't need to be loktited.
Next day after receiving the watch I dipped it in orange flavored soda in order to have the patina removed. Guess what... Soda got inside the watch because caseback was not even tight. I actually removed it with my two fingers without any effort. I was speechless. On top of that, the auto rotor fell off immediately and one of the three screws was missing! I was shocked.
Luckily enough I saved the mvt and watch by letting it dry under hot sun for a few days and now it has been sent already to another modder to fully service and clean it.
I paid a lot of money for nothing.
I contacted the moderators here but haven't gotten a response from them yet, maybe they are too busy.
I contacted slaughterer62 describing everything to him and his reply was that everything left his house tight and perfect. He asked me to send it back at my own expenses to work on it again. But how can I send the watch and a 400 euros mvt back to somebody that was so amateur at first place? I can't trust him any more.
I don't know what to do.
Opinions are welcomed.
I apologise if the post is in the wrong section and I also hope my post is not insulting to anyone. I am just really upset and don't know what to do.
Thanks for reading.
PS. All of my discussion with slaughterer62 in in my inbox, mods you are more than welcome to read it. Attached are pics of the damage the same day I received the watch.
