Well... This is quite unexpected, staff members have reminded and congratulate me in advance on this milestone. For that I thank you very much. Let's make this short and sweet with short intro on how I got in to this hobby.
My first replica that sparks my interests into collecting rep watches is Breitling Avenger Chronograph Ti. I got this from a local watch dealer which has disappeared now (either retired or got trouble with the law). I keep searching more info about this replica watch and stumbled upon Richard Brown's video on this replica... Actually paid for this video and got the softcopy of his book too. My first board is actually TRC, have a couple of hundred posts over there. From there I learnt a lot and I can't remember how exactly, but someone started recruitment drive over there and introduced me to The Darkside.
I joined this board back in April 2006. Decided to contribute to this forum and call this place home
By then, my collection has grown quite considerably. Considered myself quite fortunate, I didn't fall into trap of idealwatches and the like. However, I got scammed by a member 12.5/1, he is infact a pretty well known scam artist across rep boards. 1 watch gone which is a Seiko 5 Sports. To date, I still have information about this guy. Someone has even visited his place and met with his family member (brother). Again, my offer is still valid. If you ever meet this guy, don't hesitate to send my regards to him and feel free to take the watch/equivalent money of 150USD from him.
Back then, I decided to take this hobby to another step. I bought more extensive watch tools. A wise man gave his advice. Don't settle for cheap tools, go for the best one that you can afford. This is still true to this days. Good watch tools only make your life easier. I started with simple task of changing dials/removing hands. I think this is a skill that one should be able to pick up and will be useful if you are planning to deal/collect rep watches.
Back then... I HATE Rolex. It's just a social stigma here. When you wear Rolex, it's fake until proven otherwise. A long time ago, I bought a YM for less than 100USD. I think it has Asian movement. Sold it again without ever wearing it. So Rolex has been absence from my collection for quite some time till really late 2007 when I was in Germany. Then my dealer who sold me that Breitling Avenger Chrono Ti gave me an Explorer II with Asian movement, GMT hand non adjustable. He said as a bonus. Again, didn't really wear it and gave it to my brother. The watch is still running by the way but it's fast about 5 minutes a day. Strangely, it has a high beat frequency of 28800bph.
The bottom line is, I learn how to share with this community and you should too. That FREE CRAP thread is actually a very good place to get to know each other. I have given a few stuff and received some stuff in return. I encourage you to make use of it.
Thru this forum, I have made friends... both online and in real life. The experience is just rewarding. It's so different when you just meet face to face. For that, I really thank The Darkside for providing such opportunities
Thank you very much to all the staffs, members and of course to a few of you that have left this place. You are part of history. Without you, this place won't be what it is today.
