As I said before, YM in mid size are a piece of shit. That one looks like a real fake. You want to send your lady out with a quartz Rollie? You can see this miles away that this is a fake watch. I would not do this at all. JMO :|

I have to agree with Guru on this one. There are some reps that--while they may not be close to the gen-- are still nice and solid looking watches. The mid-size YM, however, isn't one of them. Seriously-- it's just not a good watch. Flimsy build, poor construction, lousy movement. And, as Guru said, it will be immediately identifiable as a fake from across the room because of the quartz movement (Rolex hasn't built a quartz model in about 25 years). There are much better watches (again-- not just in comparison to how close it is to the gen, but just as a watch) for the same money. There are some great rep Cartiers, and the new ladies HBB is nice. My wife really likes Chopard, and there are some really nice reps of those. If you really want a Rolex, watcheden has about 100 pretty good Pearlmasters in different sizes (all with either ETA or 21j movements).

I appreciate the honest opinion, I really do, and I'm looking for as good a quality as possible. I'm a newb so forgive me, but that looked like a pretty good rep to me?

No problem :D the only good YM is the 41 mm size, period!

Here are some pics from some watches I bought for my wife...

MBW Explorer 1 with ETA movement

MBW Patek with ETA

Cartier with quartz...gen is the same

I have not taken a pic of my wifes J12 but I believe a white J12 on a black wrist looks great. My wife got a black one with quartz like the gen and the quality of that watch is like the gen. If you want, I can take a pic of it. The price from PT was 190 USD, very nice ceramic. I am still waiting for the new HBB from Hont. :D

What you don't want to do is buy a rep for your wife and when she wears it and the first guy is looking at it says, nice rep , Miss :( :(

Aaaarrrrrggghhhhh!!! Too much want!!!!!

I think I've decided upon a quartz YM. Just need to decide on colour and source a good one.

The one in this post looks lovely and look very genuine to my (admittedly) untrained eye...
What do you think?

Personaly I stay away from gold watches as much as possible...that gold will fade away and expose the SS below. It will look bad after that. YM's that are not ETA tend to be short lived too (at least the ones I've gotten). Might last a month, might last 5 years, just really no way of telling.

Just to add my .2 cents, stay away from diamonds on the bezel or band. They fall out really easily sometimes in a few days or months, then you have a watch that functions great, but looks like crap because of the missing diamonds, it's a dead give away if diamonds are missing that its a fake!

Guru,

I'd love to see a picture of your wife's J12.
I've been looking at them again and think I was too hasty in my earlier judgement. Its a lovely watch and a white one would suit Mrs Ace really well.

So where's the best place to find the best rep J12?

Out of interest, why are the small and mid YM's so bad? Are they all made in the same 'factory'? I'd assumed that there were 100's of places knocking out these reps and that the quality would vary from laughable to super

Thanks again guys

Here in Florida the ladies J12 is the most knocked off watch there is.
People that don't know where to find reps have them.
They're all fake....lol

i'm surprised nobody ever recommends the Cartier Roadster for ladies when this subject comes up. it's virtually identical to the gen which is quartz as well. this one came from Hont and the wife loves it.

Mrs. CaptainJack has the Cartier Roadster as well and loves it... when she's not wearing something pillaged from my collection. I started buying her her own so she'd leave mine alone... it doesn't matter. At the end of the week I'm still usually 2 or 3 watches light... always find them in her watchbox.
